Here response on AT to people bangin' on her shooting PSE and it being her first bow kill, AND answering criticism of taking an elephant at all:

I didn't even check that thread Thats really too bad that some people felt the need to rain on her achievement It might not be my biggest achievement or desire but that's me. There is no reason for bashing at all What was the deal? .... was there really people bashing PSE because she took this elephant with one? Sounds pretty weak to me

I'm sorry. I think it is great that she worked so hard to get to the point to be able to take an elephant and it is a great trophy............especially for a first bow kill and for a lady to do......BUT...........I think she would have been better either waiting another year or using a gun. She just didn't have the equipment to get it done. No I'm not bashing the bow, it was a good choice and she did pick the finest head in the world...........she just didn't have the weight or KE. She was shooting 103#KE and only got 21" of penetration. I have always heard that the MINIMUM KE should be 105#'s. I have heard stories of even that failing terribly. I realize that she is a women and she had all she could do to work up to 83#'s draw, and I do respect that, but with another year she could have easily gotten to 90 or so. 21" of penetration on an elephant is most likely only the near side of 1 lung.........maybe both sides of it. That would be like hunting for deer with a bow only capable of 4" of penetration on an ideal broadside shot. If someone did that they would be called out for it on the spot.........would it kill a deer, sure. after a long and circling bloodtrail......like this elephant. I under stand that she is a women and 83#'s is a whole lot of bow for anyone. Her pulling that is an acomplishment in itself. I would personally like to see a 115# KE minimum on elephants required by law. Sure that's a whole lotta bow to shoot, but if you can't do it stick with cape buff or smaller dangerous game.
