Where are the bowfishermen?

Keep Bowfishing in mind this spring/summer everyone.
Kids are drawn to it and it enforces the urge to bowhunt

If you don't already bow fish then please consider it if you have kids.

bowfishing is a blast, those mississippi backwaters are excellent for spawning carp

I love to bowfish. Turkey season opens on the 1st and then bowfishing season opens on the 15th. My goal is to get a couple of toms down the first 2 weeks and then relax and bowfish. I have introduced a bunch of people to the sport, young and old. They're hooked now too. What other day of hunting can you talk and laugh and still get dozens of shots on game?

I've never bowfished. My first question is what fish are legal to be bowfished besides carp? Are there places off limits to bowfishing, or can you bowfish anywhere you can spincast or flyfish. Will the DEC take umbrage to me bowfishing their newly stocked 17" browns?

In NY you can only bowfish for carp. Pretty much any water you can fish, you can bowfish. I fish primarily NYS Reservoirs. You just have to check out local regs. The season runs from May 15th-september 30th

I have my DEP access permit. Does that allow me to bowfish on resevoir property. I have a boat at the Gilboa (schoharie) res.
