"Finish it off" Well, I did my best Robin Hood impression and hit BOTH arrows sitting in the bull and noticed all kinds of carnage!!! Now that's what I like to see LOL. When we went to pull the arrows (there were 3 other people there, all pro's apparently) first we looked at the grouping, then looked at the damage. All three arrows were trashed! Knockes were broken( easy enough to repair), arrows were cracked, veins knocked off (easy enough to repair) 2 of the 3 arrows were cracked on both ends." Wow...you're a stronger man than I. I can't imagine walking away from a bow after doing that. I've only had 2 robinhoods...both came with my Iceman when sighting in with my new HHA site. That really felt like being in a "zone". If I had done that with a bow right off the shelf, it would have been riding shotgun in my truck going home with me grinning the whole way

Sighting in at 25 yards with HHA...never had a Robin Hood in 20+ years of shooting a bow, then I had 2 in a row. Amazing when you see pieces of nock and arrow flying. I don't think I'll ever be in a zone like that again. I think you should go back and revisit that bow...seems like it is calling your name. BTW: all 4 arrows were ruined. To me, it was worth it. I still have them in my den.

I walked away only because on Wed. I'm going back. That's when their shipment of bows come in. They said they should be getting some Hoyt's in ... and I'd like to see how they shoot. I'm not sure what Hoyt's run, but I know the Mathews DXT is somewhere around 800-900 bucks ... I'd hate myself for not trying all that I could. Who knows, I might pick up a Hoyt, and the wind start blowing inside the building. LOL If that happens, the card is hitting the counter and the wife will have to ride in the back with my son!

Since the DXT is now considered to be one of their "older" models, I'd be surprised you you couldn't get a little better price than that. Whatever you decide, have fun! Nothing better than that "new bow smell".

That DXT is a nice bow. It's got the 7" brace, and it's light, and ...short as heck. The Hoyt's are heavier, but the Alphaburner is faster, but with an inch shorter brace. Like red says, shoot them first, then make a decision. At that level of bow, you won't go wrong with whichever you choose.

Weight isn't much of an issue to me. Generally speaking, but not always, if it's heavier it's made with better materials. (Speaking as a Machinist) Of course that isnt' always true, but a machined riser will always be heavier than a casted riser ... that much I know, and I think it's worth the time to make a decision based on what is best for me ... not what's best for the brand.
I mean look at Ted Nugent (spelling) he has the money to have any bow in the world, and I THINK he still has the same ol' Martin he bought many moons ago.

Shot the Monster, Z7, and Maxis 31 today. Found a place about 50 miles away that has an Alpha Burner, may end up over there tomorrow. Monster was fast. At 62 pounds pull weight it was shooting around 268 - 270 thru the chrono. It felt good, but different at the same time. I'd never shot a double cam bow previously. You could feel that it could really hurl some arrows at nice speeds. Z7 was nice too. If I had to describe it ... I'd say if a DXT and a Monster had babies, it would be the Z7 ... just my opinion. LOL Maxis 31 was nice too! Hard to decide really. It seemed like a double cam bow ... but I might be wrong. The wall seemed a little thinner than the Mathews. It seemed faster than the DXT, about the same in terms of sound. It was a little harder pull than the DXT, but not to bad. Just slightly ... but when the arrow flew, you knew it was going down the range like a scalded dog! If I had to choose today, I couldn't!! I would say it's between all of them. LOL

268?!!! That is not fast!! My Vulcan is hitting 305 at 63#, 28" dl. The DXT should be right on par. Go shoot that Alphaburner... When judging speed, make sure that the arrow is 5 grains per pound. Or...use the same arrow to shoot through all these different bows.
