I just bought the mathews z7 and I love it so far. Its not as smooth as my switchback xt but it draws fairly easy. The one thing I can say has already been said shoot the bow that you are interested in and be critical when doing this. You don't want to live with an expensive bow that is alright. Don't buy it unless it feels great to you and meets your other criteria. Just my .02 Good luck on your quest and take your time you'll know when you find it.

Winner's Choice string is on back order from every place around me My old man decided to order a string from ... extremebowstrings.com (I think) said if I didn't like it, he'd get me the Winner's Choice string. Personally, I just need a string, I miss shooting my bow! I need it to get here soon, I can only shoot his bow so much before I become annoyed with the short draw length. LOL

If money is tight, and you don't want to pay the out of control prices ofthe "top tier" bows, do yourself a favor and check out the Mission line of bows. Mathews quality, warranty and customer service, at a fairly reasonable price.

I'm like BT, a speedfreak. That's got tempered somewhat since I injured my shoulder. Just ask yourself if an extra 10fps is worth potentially injuring a shoulder and shortening your bowhunting career.

I'll be heading out to a few shops today, hopefully will find my next ride ... I'll likely shoot everything they have and do some serious thinking/ research before making my final decision. Who knows, I might not find anything I like .... but that's unlikely. LOL

Ok, so I shot quite a few bows ... Cabelas didn't carry Hoyt or Mathews, I shot Bear Lights Out 2, several Diamonds, and a few PSE bows. I can't remember the names of the PSE bows I have to admit, I was looking forward to trying out the Bear Assault, but they didn't have one on hand. Oh well, maybe another place will. I have to admit, while they all shot well, I didn't find one that I HAD to have ... are they better than the one I currently have ... yeah. Do they draw smoother, and faster, yes they certainly are. Not a lot faster I think ... but smoother drawing. There's a place my old man and I are going to check out either this week or next that carries Hoyt, and there's a shop near his place that carries Mathews. Perhaps one of them will be the one?

Ok, sorry for such a late response. I was unable to stop by the place until this afternoon ... I called the shop in question (Can't think of the name either) The man who answered the phone said they had a large selection of bows and I can come by and check them out anytime. Upon entering the place I noticed LITTLE selection! I spoke to a guy named James and he was "pushing" a certain bow ... I won't mention it ... mainly because I can't remember the name. If I do, I will post it. I began the shooting session by pulling the bow back ... hmmm, then let it fly. I didn't shoot another arrow, or another bow. James asked, "Well what do you think? Quite a bow huh?" I had to tell him what I thought of it, and because I won't lie to you if I can help it ... I told him what I thought. I said, "I remember an old quote I was once told about a Rifle." James asked, "What rifle is that" I said, "Someone once tried to sale me a French rifle ... his selling point was "Never fired and only dropped once" James looked at me kind of odd for a moment, then I said bluntly so that he would understand what I was trying to say ... "No thanks man, I could waste money on Crack that would be better than this bow." What I didn't like about the bow ... 1. Draw was not even close to the one I currently have (Parker Spitfire) 2. The Draw was LOUDER than the bow I currently have. 3. When fired, it sounded like a howitzer going off ... I mean, come on ... when I let go of that arrow there were Deer up in Canada that jumped the string! 4. It was much more expensive than what it's worth ... in my opinion. Asking price was around $500 or so, I think. What I did like about the bow ... 1. I'll get back to you if I can think of something I liked about the bow. All that being said, there's a shop I've been wanting to go to that I'll be visiting on Wed. (I hope) I think it's called Smithfield Archery. They asked if there was anything in particular I was looking for ... Brand name, or if there was a price range, I said that I didn't care about Brand name ... and if I found a bow I liked then I'd get it ... if not I'd keep looking. They said they'll be getting a shipment of bows in on that day (Wed.), and that would be the best time to check out what they have. The salesperson or whatever their title is was friendly, and knowledgeable ... but obviously not a tech and didn't claim to be. She mentioned that the Holidays "last minute rush" depleted their current stock of bows. They have an indoor range there at the store up to 30 Yards. They would set it up at the weight and draw length I wanted and would let me test it as long as I wanted. Hearing that was a big thumbs up for them already. They took down my name and number and said they'd call if anything new came in before then. I've already had a better experience with this place than the previous place. I will post findings once I check it out.

Mission something .... the thing is, I tried the same one today and it was TOTALLY different feeling ... the guy might have screwed it up somehow? I stopped in at the Smithfield Archery shop today, mainly just to see what they had to offer. Facility wise, extra goodies, that kind of stuff. I shot a Mathews DXT today, it was a sweet drawing bow. After some tuning on the sights to get it closer to center I began getting better groups. Granted, these were different arrows, at different lengths, but I wasn't really looking for tight groups, I was trying to get a feel for it. At 70 lbs ... I just about tore it in half pulling it back the first time. LOL It drew back so much easier than the one I have now, I asked the guy if it was really 70 lbs! While holding it he checked to make sure everything looked level and all that good stuff, let one fly and noticed how quiet it was. Tried a few more and things got better. The last round of 4 arrows I shot, the first one was a flyer sent off to Mars by me. I guess it was off about 3" high and about 1.5" right. Hmmm ... not what I was looking for, but I knew right away it was me, there was no doubt about it. The next arrow I put in the bull, third arrow hit the arrow in the bull, I seen something fly off, not sure what at the time. The guy said "That's alright, don't worry about it ... now you're getting a nice grouping. Finish it off" Well, I did my best Robin Hood impression and hit BOTH arrows sitting in the bull and noticed all kinds of carnage!!! Now that's what I like to see LOL. When we went to pull the arrows (there were 3 other people there, all pro's apparently) first we looked at the grouping, then looked at the damage. All three arrows were trashed! Knockes were broken( easy enough to repair), arrows were cracked, veins knocked off (easy enough to repair) 2 of the 3 arrows were cracked on both ends. While I was pleased with this bow in all regards, I would like to shoot other bows to compare. Comparing it to the one I'm currently shooting ... well, that's just not fair! I hope to have more later. Wed. I'll be heading back up there to check out what all they have. I'd like to know what that bow was when you remember. Keep looking and take your time
