It seems like the BT fulcrum is also further away from the limb bolt, but time will tell if this is a problem for either of the bows.

I've never seen a bow break like that before. The ones I have seen either splinter up along the limb or at the cams.

Very odd indeed although I did have one of my mods. blow a top limb on me once and it was split the length.
The fulcrum point would be the reason for the type of break IMO

The fulcrum point would be the reason for the type of break IMOThat's pure speculation on your part though. Noboby knows if this bow was screwed up at the shop. in shipping, in a press, dry fired, etc. I know the owner stated the bow wasn't dry fired but how many people do you know that admit to this especaiily when they want to get the bow replaced? Not calling him a liar, just saying no one knows. There are so many variables coming to one soild conclusion is impossible. I just don't believe that any of these companies, not just Mathews, would release a product that they"hope" might work. There has to be years and countless hours of R&D in a new design, or any design for that matter. Saying the fulcrum is a bad idea is just opinion, which you have stated.

It looks like he has not even brought the bow home from the Bow shop yet. From the looks of things he was still setting it up at the shop, if he is like me he would shoot it and think of something else he may want to put on it before he goes home with his new toy.

Until now I have sat back and smiled at the repartee' regarding the bow manufacturers. I shoot an older Mathews (Q2), and am very pleased with it. I want to say that I admire the way everyone has refrained from bashing Mathews.
IMHO, I would stay away from both the Drenalin and the Bowtech Guardian for at least this first year. I learned this lesson the hard way about 10 years ago. I had purchased a new carbon fiber mountain bike. It was a brand new design and was very revolutionary. Long story short, I broke three frames. All three broke at the same place, which was a point of stress similar to the fulcrum area on the Drenalin. The manufacturer was very responsive, and replaced the frame twice. But when the 3rd frame cracked, they offered me a cash buy out so I could purchase a new bike of a different configuration. Guess what? They ultimately stopped making this model!
This is just one example. I have seen the same with all sorts of first year products. IMO, let someone else work the bugs out!

I went through one Raven II frame and 2 swingarms on that bike. The frame I actually punched a hole the size of a quarter near the BB. Both swingarms split at the center weld where the 2 sides are joined. For that reason, I'll never buy another Carbon Fiber MTB. C'Dale replaced the swingarms but didn't want to hear about the frame.

No it was a Trek "Y" Bike. It kept cracking right at the pivot point where the rear shock connected to the inside of the "Y". The Trek carbon fiber was tough, but it was susceptible to stress fractures.
