Anybody know anything about these guys? 2007 Quebec-Labrador Caribou Hunt Booked through Brush Country Hunting Consultants OUTFITTER: Twin River Lodge, Quebec: www.twinriverlodge.comI have been invited to tag along on a caribou hunt next September... I am just looking for any info that would start out like : "Watch out for..." "Make sure you..." "You will want to..." Also, any info about taking my bow and equipment over the line would be great! I have never hunted by guide before, always done my own hunts. I've never hunted in the north, or for caribou before either. So I find myself as a newbie once again! I will be taking my Bowtech Pro 38, 70 pound draw, 31 inch draw length - and a longbow that I've not yet made up. Some Epe or Osage/bamboo combination. We get two tags, so I'd like to shoot a caribou with each! Gear is not a question mark for me, I imagine anything that works on elk will do. I am more interested in info on the outfitter and the location. Thanks!

Two guys from my local club hunted Quebec in August 2003. They have a return trip planned for 2010 and invited my son and I to go. We'll have to see what happens, but it's on our calendar! It was quite affordable (depends on each person's definition I guess) back then. I found the article they wrote for our state's bowhunting org. Gerry Risser of Bowhunting Canada is the name listed. He takes 6 hunters per trip and will move you to another location if you aren't seeing animals. They filled both their tags and caught plenty of fish to boot. Looks like the price is about the same as 2003. Below is a link to the website. The pic on the bottom of the page, far left are the guys and one of their racks. www.bowhunts.com/bow1.html

I checked there sight, looks like they got there stuff together. Being able to move is a biggy with Migrating Bou. Get a list of references and call them; Ask them what they DIDN'T like about the outfitter, ask if they'd go back. I see alot of bow kills in the pics, thats good they should know the needs of a bowhunter.

sometimes you can do a hunt cheaper by going to the N.W.T. of Canada. PLus you could have a chance at a big Brown bear or MONSTER moose

Thanks for the input! We have gotten 11 references so far... 10 of 11 were 100% positive and would either like to go back, or have another trip planned. One was not. The guy claimed that some rich guy came in to camp, and started tossing $$'s around to get priority on morning boat rides, help from the guides, and so on. What we are trying to do is fill up a single camp with Coloardo bowhunters - my understanding is that this means 6 hunters. Which, if this is all above the board, there won't be an opening for anyone else to come in and mess with our hunt. Again, thanks for the input, I will continue to watch this posting!

Twin River Lodge has good reports on it. I started looking into Caribou a couple years ago before I booked. Twin River was on my list of final 3 but I ended up booking with a different Outfitter. My hunt starts August 27th of this year and its just around the corner!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a whole group going should be a blast.

A list of anything unexpected - good or bad - would be great info as well as the pictures! Good luck, and please do post something back on your hunt!!!

I will have pictures and video (I hope) when I get back. Im putting together a home page on the hunt right now. My plan is the week I get back is to enter a day by day log of the hunt as it happened. People can go to the page every day to get a update on what happend and I hope to enter pictures and have a picture page. If eveything goes as planned I will leave the link here for everyone to check out. SMJ, I have a CD from my Outfitter that has some excellent footage. Great CD on judging animals and seeing whats out there. If you want a copy shoot me your address and I will get one out to you. Its a good CD to watch no matter who your going to hunt Caribou with.
