i was checking the forum all along and this is where i was getting my info!! I also have a friend who's son-in-law works in prudoe bay area and is sending me reports ...last time 2 years ago it was 70 in anchorage and above the artic circle it was 85-90 it was a stuggle but we found bou and all tagged out... i want to try canadian caribou too but in alaska it is a cheaper hunt cause of relitives and it is a DIY hunt ... we have camping rig just cost of gas ,tags ,license, food great time hopefully i won't get eatten up alive like last time with bloodsuckers they ate through my netting and still got me but like i was saying it was crazy warm... with it warm you drive and hope to see and glass lots andlots of glassing , and maybe you can find a resident herd and put stalks on them..

As to hunting elk this year, I think I will keep that to myself. Some years it is just not about hunting elk at all...
As to caribou hunting in Canada - it is all about hunting caribou! I am in Montreal waiting for a flight out... It seems that between the weather this morning and indian problems this afternoon, we could not fly out on time. Hence, we get an extra night in Montreal. There was a vote at the UN this morning and Canada voted "no" on it. The indians, we were told, have blocked the road from the landing strip to town and vowed trouble if we tried to land. My understanding is that someone has been called in to deal with it, and we will fly tomorrow... I keep thinking "Great, here I am bringing a bow to gun fight!" I hope not, but ones mind tends to wander when left alone with lots of time to do nothing! I will have to let you know how it goes. We should be on a plane by noon, I don't know if we can make it to camp by tomorrow or not, have to see what they can do for us. We will take float planes to get to camp. The trip up here from Colorado was uneventful. Everyone is worried about the 70 pound limit. I weighed in at 70.5 pounds at home. I hope my scale is the same as the one they use! The cost is $3 per pound over 70 pounds.
I have 100 grain turbos for the compound and 150 grain silver flames for the long bow. I still hope to take an animal with each!
I would love to type in more details and touch on what has been going on in general - but I need to get to bed! Talk to you after I get back!!!

We got in to Montreal just fine, and were supposed to fly out the next day (Thursday the 13th.). This started with a delay due to weather, low cloudes and blowing snow and rain. By noon, I got online and the weather in Schefferville was better, 9000 foot ceiling and 5 mile visability. Why no flights out? The indians were making trouble in Schefferville. Our outfitter crossed a picket line and the indians broke all the windows out of his house. So, we ended up not being able to fly at all yesterday. Today, Friday, they sent one plane out early the Schefferville, that plane ended up having to go to another field - Lac Poo - or something like that. No indians there I guess. From there we will be taken in float planes to our camp. This is getting a bit old, we were supposed to be hunting caribou by now, and are yet to leave the gate! Anyway, with any luck we will start our trip in about an hour. However, at this late hour, I doubt that we will be able to get to our hunt camp today yet - so probably tomorrow some time. This whole mess, what ever it really is, has cost us at least a day of hunting so far. Could end up costing more - we'll see. With any luck we might still get a hunt or two in on this trip... I am tired of paying for meals at this hotel and the local bar... I'd much rather spend the $$s on a bear and small game tag to go with the caribou tags!!! Anyway, I'll check in when I get back.
PS - We have 6 of us, all bowhunters from Colorado (Not a rifle in the bunch, hope don't regret that!) - I promise a fine tale when we return!
