Well....I got a call at around 5:00PM today but I was at a customers home (doing a bid) so I didn't pick up....even though I saw that it was Spiker First thing that went through my mind was that he had hit a deer and was calling me from the stand 6:00....Spiker gets me and sure enough.... But.... He had been looking for maybe an hour and no blood On a 20 yard broadside shot With a spitfire My reaction?..... So.... We went over the shot Where I ask.... In the crease he says.....tight and high And did you hear it open I ask Yes he says....just like on the turkey Do you know right where she was standing when she got hit I ask Yes he says And there was a half handful of hair there...right? No....nothing he says So....now we start talking about the shot and suddenly he interrupts and says that his friend just found blood SO.... thats pretty much all I know at this point. His friend and he both heard a crash after the exiting deer disappeared into the woods but Spiker said that the deer was running super fast with 1/2 the arrow (fletch end) sticking out of it. My guess is that the arrow hit the off side shoulder/leg and the deer is down 120 - 150 yards out. I have the evening free (kind of) so I will be headed up (3 hours north) if he needs the dog. No worries....if he hit brown it's down with the spitfire (IMO) If I can get there before the rain , we will get that deer

I should not have looked at this thread before going to bed... Now I'll be tracking a deer, in a place I've never been, all night long. Good luck!

This is eerie. That is because of what happened to me yesterday morning. I had a group of does feeding out about 35 yds from me. One doe starts to break away and move off to my right. She was about 25 yds away when I shot. I felt I shot high. She ran off like a scalded cat. Went to the area where she last stood, and, nothing. No arrow, no blood, no hair Ended up doing a grid search 150yds in the direction where she ran. Came up clean. My verdict is she was able to drop away from my already high shot and I missed completely. Just wish I could find my arrow to comfirm it.

I better check his blog entry first to make sure I am not repeating stuff ....
