In AK if the guide radioed you then it would be illegal to shoot the bear. Use of radio communication, cell phones, satellite phones cannot be used to aid in the taking of game.

I said no shot because of the obvious, sun in my eyes, crest of a hill, not knowing if the bear is quartering to or away. If it were a deer things may be different but I'm not taking a chance with something that can EAT ME!!! A pissed off Bear is nothing to mess with.. I have to agree with MT on that one, and disagree with you, as to the fibbing, bnb. I know you weren't trying to offend anyone, and I don't take it personally.  Trust me, I tell it as I see it, and have been spanked a time, or two, for it.  This board has a different caliber of hunters, not the kind who are seeing their first game in the woods, or think that it will be their last. Years of hunting experience teach someone that to make a hasty decision can lead to the wounding of the game animal, or yourself. That's why we have these discussions. Look at the post about the radio being illegal, that's just one of the information aspects that these threads provide.  I'm not meaning to lecture, but just clarifying what I believe to be the mindset of most of us here. |

Lets not shut the mouth  The point wouldn't have been made had you not said anything  I agreed with you in part because I have done some bone head moves in the heat of the moment before and will again. I know whats right and whats wrong but am I perfect?....hardly  However....I am trying hard to be better and if I can just beat it into my head during the down time, I stand a better chance of doing right when season opens. I can honestly say that I have held a shot based on what I have concentrated on here and I have tried shots that I may not have based on what I have seen here. This site is meant to be friendly, informative (educational) and worthwhile. If you cant say something to challenge, correct or question, then the site loses some of it's educational benefit and becomes less attractive to those that come here for these conversations  I appreciate honesty. |

I won't shut the mouth at all, not what I really meant 100%. I meant I know when it's time to listen to the voice of reason. I just thought some of the replies were more people saying what they thought they should say rather than what they would do or have done. I didn't intended to question anyones skill level or ethics. Hey, it spiced up the thread a little!
