Well....it is confirmed....I have it. The only deer I was rock solid on this year was the recurve buck I think I have to start shooting more

I could have told you that you have it. You just have to KNOW that you will shoot the deer. also know that if the shot is not taken it is no big deal. you will either get the shot or you won't and if you get the shot you WILL kill.
Don't put pressure on yourself to make the shot happen. it will happen on it's own and let your confidence from the off season take over.
I used to get it BAD. now I am confident enough, that it rarely happens.

I used to get it BAD. now I am confident enough, that it rarely happens. I can't imagine either of you guys having "buck fever" You have so many opportunities to actually take shots, I thought that sooner or later it would be just routine I don't think that I will ever get over it seeing that my opportunities are so few and far between To make matters worse, bow hunting just adds to the whole adrenalin rush

we all still get it. I just control mine until after the shot.
If you are very confident and just know that it's just like practice you can keep the shakes down. It really is no different than practice, pick a spot, aim, release, follow through. the exact same. Just relax and let all those backyard practices take over. The only difference is what your target is........everything else is the same.

This is the thing that gets me.....I got over it years ago and now it's back. It's actually a rush.....the reason I used to hunt but now it's just causing me to panic. I had it with the recurve for the last couple of years but the last hog hunt and the first deer this year saw it disappear. Now it's the compound and that's what is getting me.....I cant miss with this bow....if I don't panic As I said.....I need to shoot more.....I got out of it for to long with this new business venture. At least that's what I think is the route cause.

I think that it is the rush that makes us all hunt in the first place..I'm able to control it as well, until after the shot...but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.. That doesn't mean that my heart doesn't go double time...and my breath doesn't get shallow....aw geez..sounds like I have it too....damn.. ;D

I know what does it for me....the thought that the deer is going to somehow get away! As soon as I start to draw everything goes into a high speed situation. It's very disconcerting

That is exactly the problem! You have to relax, maybe not take your time, but relax and don't rush. there is a difference between "taking a snap shot" and taking a fast well aimed shot.
maybe I'll sign us all up for meditation classes!

;D That may be the ticket I think that alot of it is conditions.....lack of shooting lanes kills me and the panic sets in quick when I only have a 2' window on a moving deer or a deer that could move. I need a wide open field and a machine gun! ;D

I don't know if I will ever get to where I don't get buck fever. But then I have only been hunting for about 45 years so it might go away when I get a little older. I find that if I don't worry about a shot not working out then I will remain a little more calm. Sometimes the shot happens sometimes it doesn't. If the shot doesn't happen then there is always next time. But no matter what happens I get the shakes after it is over shot or no shot.
