I hit him a little high. Just clipping the back/top of the wing butt. 1 blade split the spine and the other 2 entered the chest cavity. He dropped on the spot and flopped about 3 yds, with blood everywhere. I only got about 14" of penetration.

At 80#, man you would think that the arrow would sweep the bird away if it it didn't pass through.

Any pics of the arrow, any damage, or is it still usable?

No damage to the head or the arrow. I think the bird rolled when the arrow hit, that would keep it from passing through.

So get this. A guy I work with gets a call from a lady he knows today. she is 98 and lives on the NY/CT border. She says she has a turkey problem. Ray goes over there this morning to take a look thinking that its' just a woodchuck problem. he pulls in the driveway and sees 6 toms....well 2 were jakes. we talk to our buddy and see if we can get in there tomorrow and sat. he said he would talk to her when he went back this afternoon. she said yes and now there were 7 toms in the back field! Ray and I should be in for some action in the AM! I just have to find out if it is in CT or NY or if she truly has land on both properties. It's very hard to tell by looking on the map. either way we both have tags for both states!

Does NY have an online property search? Here in Montana it's called Montana Cadastral. It's part of the GIS info on the Montana Goverment website. various layers of info all built into one website. It's a little bit scary what you can dig up for info anymore; but it is a good source for finding property owners and their property.

I'll talk to her in the morning to find out the deal, but her road is a dead end and it can only be gotten to from CT. It is a CT town road with a CT adress. After looking at the map though, the state line is just beyond the end of the culdisac and her house is on the end of the culdisac. It's 9 acres that is longer than wide and stretches straight back from the road. It won't matter in the morning as I we have tags for both. either way it is gonna work out fine. I have 3 ct tags as does ray and we have until noon on saturday to fill them. she says they are there nearly all day, every day. she said even if she chases them away, they are back later on. she wants them dead. If it's NY we have 'till the 31st but I have only 1 tag left and ray has 2. if the border croses through her property..........well we have hit the jackpot. if we get rid a few turkeys for her, we will be able to deer hunt there as well. Ray said every tree 8" or smaller in the yard and along the field is rubbed up.
Ray is the shooter first thing in the morning!

by the way, we finished cooking up my bird tonight and it was awesome!
