I attained this bow as a gift from my wonderful wife Doegirl
I have had one full season with this bow and I am able to give my total take on it at this point in time.
I will admit that when this bow was first introduced, I was the first one to say BS on that
While I was advocating pre-stressed limbs 20 years ago, This was not what I envisioned at all. My believe was that these limbs would blow before too long. I was wrong.
Guess I should just stick to what I know about which is broadheads ;D
Anyway... I have the PSE Omen now and it will be a great addition to the testing format, as it is 5fps faster than the BK2.
Yes... that's right... 5fps.
I know they say it is a super bow but to be very honest... my 70# BK2 (tweaked) smokes this Omen.
True my BK2-70 is tuned and worked up but it is a 350 bow... not the 360 bow that PSE claims
Anyway... (again) this bow is pretty sweet in it's own way. The BK2 is way easier to draw over the lobe... like a marshmallow compared to the hump in the cycle of the Omen.
Unlike the BK2 the Omen has an excellent back wall and eliminates creep by dislodging the shooters shoulder when any slack is given to that string
The Omen will break you!! ;D
For such a short brace height it is amazing on the shot. The short brace isn't noticed at all. Much better than the Black Knight! I was able to maneuver this bow in most anyway I wanted and get off a perfect shot every time.
The riser fits the hand magnificently and while I prefer a more rounded entry into the throat... I don't take notice of the flat on this bow at all. The bow centers itself (unlike the BK2) and makes shooting with a glove easy.
I don't trust these thin cams but then again, they haven't folded or cut my serving off yet so ... so far so good. That reminds me of the creaking that I heard in other Omens that I have seen. Not so much of a creak as it is a loud metallic snap as the bow comes to full draw. Mine didn't have this flaw but there are many out there like it.
I called PSE and got a real run around... just what I would expect from PSE.
The fix is offered from Bomr Archery Products. I have seen this work so trust me.
The problem is in the rocker arms (crap machining) and the solution is replacements that are actually sized correctly. $40. but worth the price when it's time to draw down on that once in a lifetime deer.
I cant say I love shooting this bow because every time I pull it back I am envisioning the limbs blowing up in my face but it is (so far) a very solid package.
The strings that came with this bow are very good IMO. I have not had to twist them up and they are not frying yet, despite the fact that the bow is being shot at IBO standards.
Thought this was worth mentioning since (it seems) so many bows come out of the factory ready for a string change... if you want top end performance from the string.
Would I recommend it?. I don't know as I would recommend it but if your deal is speed with shoot ability, then yes... it is what you are looking for
