I won a 70# Martin Mamba on ebay today so I am getting closer to my 80# mark This will (hopefully) be my main hunting bow with the 48Mag being my back up bow....which it seems I need from time to time. This is the older model so I am very excited to have it. Thanks to Eastern for letting me know it was out there

Wished I could draw 70lbs ....NOT! You can draw that much....just have to build up to it I believe that Hill was quoted saying that 70# was the minimum on which a man could successfully shoot well with a bow but that most could not draw that weight. Hill shot well over 70# but that was his considered opinion on long bow weight. I will have to go find that quote because I am sure that my memory lacks what was actually said and why it was said. Anyway...I was shaking badly 5 years ago when I bought my first 50# bow and I remember skipmaster doing the same thing with a 50# recurve. Now we can both shoot 60# like butter and 70# without any real difficulty. It's just weight training really....nothing you couldn't do if you have a fair shoulder and elbow. So.....wanna give it a try?.....I probably have a 60# laying around here somewhere

Well, I'd try it...I don't think 50-55lb is much trouble, but I'm out of practice..... How much for that 60lb whatever it is???

So much for paypal ;D....what a joke Anyway....the new Martin Mamba showed up today It is sooooo awesome It's the old style Mamba....(the good one) before they went down the tubes IMO I didn't get a chance to shoot more than 20 arrows but even without any tuning it threw the 2413 XX75 flat out to 24 yards When I say flat I am saying that it has a 2" high strike at 15 for the same point of aim as 24 yards. Thats Darn Flat for a recurve ..... IMO So ..... things are looking really good right now The 70# is just silly light and I am really looking for a custom bowyer now. If I can find someone to build a guaranteed 90# recurve that has a background of customer satisfaction behind it.....I will have to bite the bullet and go for it. I dont see any other way On the upside.....at least I didn't waste my money on a 80# bow that I would be ready to swap out within a year ....or a month I might have to run over to the trad gang and ask for advise on this one What do you say smj ?

I am looking eastern .... I thought you wanted a 50# though. Is that your final answer? ;D You tell me what weight and I will look harder __________ I have already blown out my shoulder....I feel (truly) that the recurve has done more for that disability than anything I did in the past. Ask skipmaster...it's the strangest thing...I cannot pass through a squirrel with any recurve. I am looking to use this recurve in congested area's and if I cant pass through....it's almost out of the question. Reason being is that I cant risk one lung and long tracking jobs that take me through multiple neighborhoods.

I figure that you should be able to shoot the bow WELL, rather than just have maximum power behind it.
