I just finished paying for it ....$320. Cant believe that I was the only bid! This bow has what looks to be a good shelf. I don't shoot off the shelf typically but I may try it before I tear it off. I just like the flipper because contact IMO is a bad thing. I will give it a try though

Shelf rules dude! If the shelf is flat, the flipper will no doubt be better. If the shelf is shaped, I strongly suggest you use it. The setup is a bit different, might require a different spine or tip weight, three fletch rather than four, smoother release - I did say might! - but all well worth while. By the way, if the shelf is flat, I can tell you how to modify it without any risk to the bow at all...

The shelf is shaped. This is out of my realm of expertise smj so maybe you can give me starting points and suggestions for what I might encounter?.
If I have some rule of thumb towards nock height , maybe I can determine if I am setting up off a good rest or if I am compensating to cover problems. I of course am assuming that I will have to start from scratch which may not be the case.

still no sign and the next bid is in on a Hatfield 70#. Either bow is a good bow and nobody I want will warranty an 80# bow so I am letting this idea go for now.

So '07..........number three? www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/content/Item/41/52/34/i415234vr03.jpgThis bow is pretty sweet for the price Actually....after 5 hours of shooting it I am not able to miss by more than an inch at 15 yards and 3" @ 20 yards I am happy with that for 5 hours I had to re-cut some shafts , add more fletch and open the nocks up but once I did that this morning , everything came together very nicely I got back to the 150gr. heads with the change and now I am going to chrono it , try some 190 grain heads then take the numbers and find my K.E. for effective range.

26.54 K.E. which is about the same as the old Mamba which broke on me last year. The Old Mamba was 50# so that speaks volumes of the OLD MAMBA as compared to the new 50# mamba @ 144fps with the same arrow and the new Bear @ 60# All said...I wish Bear still make custom bows because I would much prefer to have this bow in an 80# model. All said ..... this is still a sweet bow after having shot it for a bit

I used to shoot a Kodiak Magnum when I was in high school. It was a great bow, but to short a draw length for me, to short tip to tip... Kept pinching my fingers so bad that I'd get nerve damage from it on the insides of my fingers. I might have done better with a three-under hold I suppose. But it was a great bow, I am sure you will come to like the new bow! As to the noted performance differences... I'll bet Bear has not changed their designs in a long time. Tried and true, but probably not the juice of some of the newer designs and materials.
