Well, guys, I have been out of the loop for a while due to some personal issues, but am back. If you have any trad related questions, please feel free to post em here or send my way. I have some interesting articles coming up about some of the "fathers" of trad archery, and some more how-to's. I hope you all enjoy them as much as I will enjoy writing them for you. Good hunting to all.

Glad to have you back as well I think our Moderator numbers are about right as it pertains to keeping someone on board at all times so that the rest have no responsibility to the site beyond what they choose to give I do miss Lockmaster but as with you....life comes at you sometimes Anyway.... Looking forward to hearing about some of the pioneers of manufacturing such as Martin/Bear and Pearson. These people are known today as compound manufacturers but they were making bows and running company's long before compounds were conceived. Stories about Howard Hill that go into what the mans life was like aside from what it was about Will also be interesting. The man was treated like a rock star back in the day Did you know that after one exhibition he was stripped of clothing on the floor of the exhibit as people tore at him ;D Crazy! Fred Bear Was no fan of the Compound and only agreed to production of it to keep his company afloat. Jennings! .... Stole away Allen's design to get his company off the ground. Jennings was another builder who attempted to get into the budding archery market at that time but who's bows and name were keeping him in the top three's dust until the advent compound. And so on and so forth. Lots of stuff that makes very interesting reading and I thank you for undertaking the effort for everyones benefit

Let me know if I can help in any way! I've been collecting archery books for some time now, and am looking for a few more to add. Research on archery, in particular non-compound designs, is somewhat of a passion for me!
Did you ever chip any tips out of that rock? (I am still trying to get one that is worthy of display, although I did manage at least one that would probably work!)

Hey Cedar - No worries on it! If you end up liking the rock and want some more, we can talk it over at that time.

Skipmaster said he had done some knapping but didn't know where the heads were last time I was down his way.

I did do some and the heads came out pretty good for a first run at it. I could cut through a pepsi bottle with little pressure. The shape was good too, they were just a bit too small. About 1/2 the size of what I wanted. I have a video that you can have on flint knapping. it deals with more percussion than pressure and it deals with a big spear head instead of an arrow head but I did get a little out of it.
