The guy who is showing me how it's done says that he might be willing to post a "How to do it" thread in a couple months. He is a bit on the busy side right now... Any interest in that? Probably put in Stick and String.

Hey elk - here's two books for you to check out...
"Hunting the Hard Way" - by Howard Hill "Hunting with the Bow and Arrow" - by Saxton Pope
These are both available through Amazon, or probably the local library if you ask for them.
Also, if you go to Netflix and search for Howard Hill you will find two DVD's available: Last Wilderness / Hunting the Hard Way (1934) Tembo & Points on Arrows (1969)
I have seen the first (kind of cheezy, but fun) and am waiting on the second to arrive. If you want stories by these two guys, between the books and the DVD's this is a good start!

OK - the guy I am learning from, so far as making stone tips goes, is in Singapore until Feb or longer. (For work) So we will have to wait until he gets back to get tip-chipping going. So hang in there, we'll get it going once he gets back! We'll post photos on tools and methods, and with any luck at all, some cool tips. Try to take it from getting a good chip to work with off of the stone, to the end product on an arrow. That's the goal anyway!
