Love to see some Pictures this year What head and shafts are you using? For me, I'll likely use my 500 carbons with 125 Stingers (since I know they'll fly, but NOT trad I could use my woodies with 5" Turkey fletching, and I think i got a couple of glue-on Bear 2 blades or maybe pick up some ACE Standards that I can get locally to dial in.

Are you planning on giving the stick some time this year?. Figured that with one buck only tag you would be looking to maximize you opportunity's with the compound. I'll commend you for going stick but I didn't realize you were considering the option.

I'll be using footed axis shafts with eastman titanium 3 blades 125 gr. which will drop my total weight to 525, which should be fine for whitetail deer..........and the one buck rule we have here doesn't matter to my hunting, I pass on big deer now as I have nothing to prove to anyone but myself and I prefer young and tender over old and tough, so I'm just a meat hunter, spent 20 years with a compound in my hand looking for bigger and better, shot some too, but never had the urge to put one of them on the wall, they were turned into rattlin' horns, knife scales and buttons......7 years ago my neck was broken twice and I was told my hunting days were over , no more shooting guns or arrows,, ever!...but something truly horrible happened in 05 that changed everything and made me really take stock in my own life, it was then I realized I wasn't ready to give up and just wait for death, so I picked up an old kodiak hunter we had ,shot a few arrows, and found that insead of hurting me, it actually helped and made me stronger, and now a short 2 years later I can shoot up to 100#'s, and my satisfaction comes with every step I take and every arrow I shoot ,so now I hunt exclusively on the ground wearing a home made ghillie suit and prefer to sneak up on my deer with a stick and string, eye to eye on their level, a predator as God intended, and I have never been more satisfied or happier in my life, heck, I even make all my own gear now, and some for my friends too .some people have to search for the silver lining, .........I'm living mine!..................Steve, Proud Gold Star Father. Wanna see some pics of some of the bows I've built?

Absolutely and welcome back to the world of the living! I think that most times the doctors base their opinions on the condition of sedentary people who roam the halls of the office buildings. Bruce Lee was told he would never be able to practice his art after breaking his back. Bruce believed that he could build his muscles to a point of where they would support his weakened spine.....the rest is history Glad you didn't give up the ghost

Well yes, of course I want to be successful, but wouldn't it be super-cool to down a buck with the longbow If I'm field watching , the compound goes...if I'm in a stand over corn etc. I may just take the stick. Actually, I plan on it...

There is nothing like taking a deer with trad gear. It is an amazing experience.

Bowtech, Mr. Lee was a very wise man and exactly right, but I have found that if I quit shooting ,even for just a couple weeks, the pain returns, I wonder if Mr. Lee found out the same thing?? Here are a few pics, I built my first bow in Feb. of this year, but I studied a year before I built the first, I come from a kustom car building backround, where the sky's the limit, and I quickly realized that many bowyers out there don't really know the meaning of kustom, all my bows are shooters first and foremost, but a little art never hurts.......

Those bows are awesome! Love the detail Also love that 191 I'd say you were doing pretty darn fine work for 1 year in it Did you also make the bow in the lower pictue?....looks very much like a production bow.

Thanks BT, I liked that 191 too, not bad for a 41# bow shooting a 424 gr. arrow, and yes I built it too, my second lefty, built the first for her husband... Just finished this one wednesday.. rosewood dymondwood with walnut and glass limbs, and elk overlay and tips, it's a real good shooter too....
