Have you tried broadheads yet? Any difference there that would be unsuspected?

all the bows shoot different than the other but they all shoot my FP's with my BH's. It is gonna take a little work getting used to shooting an aray of bows in one season...if I can't do it than i won't.....we'll see.

I want to try one of your grandfathers bows skipmaster (you string it first and then send it on up ) Yeah, I'm not quite up to shooting his "light" 70# Bear yet! I am however very interested in shooting my vintage Bear Blacktail that has the tiny little wheels and is set at 50#'s. I may set that up with a flipper and shoot it bare with fingers.

Ok so this thread got me pumped up and thinking about all the bows I have kicking around. I took out my 55# Kodiak and was shooting lights out! I have finally settled on my anchor and it is solid! I then grabbed my 49# shrew and shot very well with that as well, but I still am playing with the "best" anchor/aiming method with it. I then took out Rays longbow which is all he used to hunt with before meeting me. At 28" it is about 40#'s and I was shooting lights out with it. He said if i took a deer with it this season he would practice all summer and hunt with only that the following year.......it is a a bet he is gonna lose
Now it was time! Time to break out the BIG GUNS. I found my stringer and strung up my grandfathers 70# Super Grizzly. I wish he had taken a deer with this bow, but he got this lighter set up at the end of his hunting career. His 80 and 85# bows wich took many deer are way to heavy for me and are not in good enough shape to shoot........... anyway...........I got her strung and gave her a few shots, and then a few more. she shoots great but is still very heavy for me. i was able to hit my anchor and get to full draw. It shoots point on, just higher(because this thing is freakin' smoking!) than my bear. It was more or less controlled snap shooting, but I was on. I am going to work at shooting this bow more and maybe be able to hunt with it, if not it will at least make my 55#er seem much lighter!

Seems like that off hand remark about the 100# recurve back fired Skips got the 70# Grizzly out and is deadly with it! Having shot it myself , I wouldnt hesitate to go 80 or 85#. I definetly shoot a heavier bow better in hind sight.

I wouldnt hesitate to go 80 or 85#. I definetly shoot a heavier bow better in hind sight. I have thought this way for some time... I know you guys have always promoted lighter bows - and rightfully so for someone who has never shot before - but at some point the body is ready for a bit more fire-power!!! This is where I've come from a couple times when I posted thoughts towards a heavier draw trad bow...

Yes....alot of time I am talking to beginners (alot) but I haven't even gone past 60# myself for fear that I might blow the shoulder out again. (last time was a 130# compound on the 20 yard line....Ouch!) But it seems as the years of pulling the string has built up that shoulder and all is well now I will keep an eye out for a 80# recurve but it has to be used
