Butternut worked it's magic again This set I wanted to convince one of my hunting buddy's that the Butternut works and it is not that it was placed close to a trail. I found a spot that water sits most of the year but drys up in the summer. There was no deer tracks close to this area and the only way the deer would find the butternut and corn is with their nose. We found some travel routes but I told him I was wanting a spot that no deer had been through, maybe by but not through. I put out the Butternut and a little corn for a treat on Aug. 31 and retrieved the trail cam today Sep. 3 and I had over 200 pics of deer even through I wasn't on a travel route. People may say that a food attractant lure doesn't work on bucks...... I disagree, how about you SAY CHEESEDid you see all four BUCKS

Almst sold me on a camera. I've pulled my lure until Oct. 31st as I won't be around that area until then. I'll put it back on the 31st and opening day is on the 1st of Nov. I've no doubt that the deer will be there on opening day morning. This stuff really seems to bring them in!! With out the camera I don't know what was there but the first day they stole my chees cloth, put it in a can with holes and that fixed that problem. Going to try it out the first part if October in a new place, I know it won't take long for them to respond. Great confidence in this stuff!!

Hmmmm, it may be a possibility for me to tag out on my hunt in 2 weeks because Butternut is gonna be my hunting partner for the trip and I am going to set up Fri. Oh yeah, I smell points. With so much Butternut out there now, the contest should be VERY interesting.

I am doing it a little differant.I am only leaving it out one day.I have 1250 acres to hunt and can't be doing it the same way.I will put it out when I get to my spot and take it home when I leave.I only need to get there attention and a shot.I'm batting about 50% but will give my thoughts when I have some. Yesterday I put out corn and 24 hours later had no corn and no puctures.I busted a skipper going to pick up the cam.Squirrels ate the corn.Last night I put more corn just a hand full and 2 apples about 6:00 PM.trying to beat the squrrels.I put more Butternut on the cheesecloth to freshen it up and picked it up this morning. There was one 2.5 year old buck there for 10 min eating the corn and 2 apples.I will set it up again today 1/2 mile away.

Just a thought but has anyone an idea the number of people trying or going to try this ButterNut lure, from this site? Good thing I have so far 3 tags and can get 2 more I'd hate to tag out at the start of the season!!! Have to spend as much time in the woods as possible, another thought? might work for moose also, have a tag for that.

This day just may suck Came home and a rabid skunk was chasing my kitten around the yard After it charged me a few times (while I am trying to stave it's head in with pieces of fire wood) I ran in the house and grabbed the .22 .... which I haven't shot since I was a young boy. I had one old long rifle cartridge that was sitting on the shelf above the gun and thats all it took First time I have shot anything with a gun in more years than I can remember. Now....I hope it didn't actually bite that little cat I was just coming back with my camera and this is what was on it. (APPLE) I used a drag this time and a piece of cheese cloth up high. I could smell the Apple 60 yards from the scent post when I was going in to retrieve it this morning. I have high hopes for this one.

I spent the afternoon setting up tree stands.I am getting to old for this s**t .I carried 2 steel hang-ons and 30 screw in steps. My drill deer cam and 20 pounds of other crap ;D.Never having used them the tree might have a few extra holes in it till I got the hang of it .Then draging up and adjusting it is a pain but once I got it I think it will be a good spot.I cut some saplings but need to go back with a stick saw.I put Butternut and my cam out so will see if I get any action after stinking up the area. After that I started setting up anouther but ran out of steam.Hanging of a tree with a drill in one hand is not easy at 63 ;D.I was out of water and alone so quit before I got hurt.I will finish tomorrow.

The one thing I can't Waite to see is watching a deers reaction to the Butternut and any other thing BT comes up with.I can only tell what happened in a deer cam photo by guessing what I think happened. The word is GUESS.In this sport we guess allot and are wrong allot .When I hunted with dogs everyone would tell me just what was happening by listening to the dogs .True sometimes but not all the time.If a picture is worth 1000 words than what is seeing somthing happen right in front of you should be a lot more.
