SO...the lighter shaft performed better Even when it was larger ;D C'mon BT...... 0.3gpi??? You think 0.3gr. makes that much difference? That's just over 7 grains total over the length of the shaft @ 25.5" as SL says. A gob of dirt stuck behind the broadhead coulda made that difference. I wonder if the pail itself is consistent enough (cross sectional thickness or radius differential at the point of impact for each shot to dismiss that as a factor as well??? Now before you jump all ove rme here, I must say that communications can get abit carbeled over the internet...Not trying raise a ruckus. What I said may sound combative but not meant to be.......Stillearnin'? You know what I mean.

We need pictures, so I thought I'd give a little update on my end... I have a set of 3 grizzlies ground down to 7/8". I know Dr. Ashby says to make the tip COC, but I cut a very small tanto tip on each. An original 160gr Grizzly with a modified one: Weight and cutting diameter of the modified head: Weight of the original setup: Weight of the arrow with a modified Grizzly:

How cold was it?...the bucket and water that is If it was really cold, the plastic would become brittle and would allow you to blow out the bucket. I never thought about this to be honest but I did fill my buckets with warm water before doing my demo. Maybe that is the problem as I used cold water.

What it is telling me is that the 4blade is outpenetrating....like it should. However...that head is closer to well off it's listed weight hats up with that?....that is the 85gr. right? Now the real question is why did the larger shaft out penetrate It may be (may be) that the cold bucket had more to do with it than you would think. If the bucket were brittle (as was show when one side blew out) then the larger shaft would act to weaken the area more than the smaller shaft. I would also ask if this bucket had been hanging around outside before the cold water was added If the bucket was old, that would also lead to a brittle state. I am guessing here but I haven't seen a pail blow out before so there are lots of questions that are going through my mind right now. Anyway....what I am going to take away from this is that the head you should be using without question is the 2 blade design. I dont care for the bleeders and would cut them flus if it were me but whatever the case, the single main blade is the way to go.

Nice Hows the edge?....get it back to cutting sharp? Ohhh, the sharp part. The only thing getting sharp is my patience with these darn things I'm finding it to be quite the challenge. Those Grizzly's were harder than hell to sharpen in the first place. The modified one are just a bit tougher. I'll figure it out..
