I have been using a TRU ball release that uses Velcro to hold it on your wrist. I was out shooting this afternoon and had the Velcro let loose when I was at full draw. This resulted in the release shooting forward and impacting the arrow rest with considerable force. Broke the trigger off the release and put a pretty good ding in the arrow rest. Luckly that was all of the damage don't think that it damged the arrow rest. It was cold out 0° F and I had a heavy coat on and I think that it was a combination of the cuff on the coat and the cuff on the gloves rubbing on the Velcro and my not getting it fastened right is what caused it to let loose. Anyway I think that I am going to get a release that buckles so that I will not have this happen again. What kind of release do you use buckle or Velcro?

This is the release i shoot. It is an awesome relaease and has a great buckle. the "tab" on the end of the strap makes it so it dosen't pull through and you can put it on easily with one hand. www.trufire.com/hurricane.html

I like the Velcro release but mine is a double back with a buckle that intertwines. After something like a dozen years I had one slip alot in the same manner you describe. My Son uses that one now

I always had a velcro release an loved it. I somehow ended up buying a strap release. it makes so much more sense to me. It's quiet in the woods and you can always keep it the same tightness on your wrist, which I believe helps accuracy a little.

All release aids will tend to stretch some making it difficult to keep the same position on your hand with buckle type straps. Once it loosens some making it in essence a longer release so you go to the next available hole and then you are shorter once again til it stretches to where you are used to. Velcro will adjust to a perfect settig everytime due to it's ability to "micro" adjust.

I use neither. I use a Trufire 3D Hunter. It looks a lot like a back tension release but the trigger is thumb activated. It took a while getting used to but now I wouldn't trade it for any other release.

Use a Scott Wildcat Buckle Dad went from Velcro to my Scott Mongoose Buckle when I changed over. Brother shoots buckle.
Seems more consistent, can be adjusted with minimal noise.

I shoot a cobra velcro release right now with some modifications made with the help of my mother-in-law. She sewed about 3 extra inches of wide velcro on the underside next to where it meets the wrist and then on the part that loops back she sewed about 6 or 7 extra inches of the skinny velcro.
I've got big wrists and hands so I wasn't confident with the hold that the original velcro had. I'm going to be looking into a buckle release at some point.

Well took my release back to Fletchers Archery where I bought it told them what happened and they traded the broken release for a new one that is a buckle style said that they could send the broken one back to TRUball and they would stand behind it. It is nice to deal with a quality pro shop. The drawback was that while I was in there I decided that I needed an new set of WC stings and cables for my bow.

I won't use the velcro straps anymore. One, they are too noisy, 2 the buckle strap gives a more consistent placement of the release on the hand. I picked up a Scott Sabertooth with the buckle strap last year. Once it got broke in (stretched) it is right on each time.
