How many Crossbows?

I started out w/ a "Whammo" 80 # recurve in the '50's. [wall hanger only warning, very dangerous]. next was a Barnett Commando, followed by PSE, then Excals. Have shot them all prior to this years new thumbhole models but they are basically the same bows as older issues. I currently use a Phoenix and an Emax. If I could only have one, it would be the Exocet as it doesn't cock but a few pounds harder than Phoenix and shoots nearly as fast as an Emax. I'm not into xbow speed, I shoot 431 gr GT's w/ 100 gr Slicks outta both and usually take the Phoenix at 285 fps. I have a Leupold VX II 2x7 w/ xbow reticules to 60 yds for TARGET shooting, not hunting, as 35 yds is my limit on deer w/ either bow. The Phoenix will hit a poker chip off a rest at 50 yds most of the time, lol.

I use an Excalibur Exocet 200 I am going to try Slick tricks this year. I'll post lots of pics, I hope!

I use an excalibur exomax toped with a lumizone scope , xx75 2216 bolts with NAP quickspin 3inch vanes and presently using nap nitron 125gr broadheads, as soon as i receive the new slick tricks i ordered, i will be testing them out!!!

6 out 6 of the last deer i've shot with the max were complete pass thru's
first 3 were with NAP spitfires 25yards 7yards 15 ...yards respectively but blood trails were not as good as i would of liked, shot placement was not what i would of liked either. No nice vital hit???

After those 3 deer i went and tried the spitfires,
since i had purchased a set of practice blades i figured all was good,,,.... ohhhhh no....
they were not good... i took 3 shots with the nap practice tips bull eye!!! proceded to use an actual tip and shot ,,,,,at 20 yards i was 8 inches high and 4 inches right, shot another and was totally bafelled 4 inches low 3 inches left..
so i put a brand new paper target up and proceded to fire a brand new tip, once again "off" but after examining the target i realized the head had 1 open blade at time of impact,, ?
Seems that the extreme quick acceleration of the 225lbs draw weight of the exomax opens the spitfires in flight. i can't trust them anymore so i have now switched to fixed heads...

Never had that problem before with my175lbs draw exocet,, would still recomend them for that set up!!!

Last 3 deer i have used nap nitrons excelent groups out to 50yards and all deer hit have expired quikly with nice blood trails,,,complete pass thru's... will be switching to slick tricks soon,,, due to excelent results that friends have had as well as cost!!!
Here in Can i can pick up 6 slicks for the price of 3 nitrons.. and those 4 blade tips really apeal to me... love to practice with the actual head i will use to hunt with

P.s Have been carying a camera lately bt,, and will post results!!! If this heat wave can pass thru!!!!
Already shot a small 5 pt buck but batteries were dead,had to use mother n laws disposable 35mm camera,, will post as soon as a get them developed...

Second year shooting 200# Excal, Carbon Express arrows, 100 grain Wasp Boss BH. Killed five deer each year and a nice buck this year. Yes I have a pic, no I have not set up a Photobucket account and so I can not post it here.

I started in 2005 after back surgery, got myself an Excal Phoenix. It was first year for that model, and a friend needed one shorter than his E'cet 200. So we traded, this year my left rotator cuff started going south me. So another friend traded me his 2007 Phoenix for the E'cet 200. Then awshucks had a friend with an older Vixen carved tip model and i bought it. So i have 2 Excals and dearly love them.

I use a Horton Hawk SL & I shoot Horton Lightning Strike MX aluminum bolts toped off with 100 grain Thunder head broad heads. This seem to be a good match up. Nice tight groups & plenty of energy out to 35 yards. Starts to get a "little" iffy at 40 yards, - but still efective!!! Tried some 125 grain broad heads but lost both accuracy & energy so have stuck with what works, - lots of dead dear.

Can't speak for anything else as this is all I have every used & have been very happy with it.
