Trophy or meat hunter?

Well If I said that I was strictly a trophy hunter I would make you guys giggle. BUT on the other hand I can say that I let alot of deer walk , but only with the gun. During our october muzzleloader I let 54 deer walk in 4 days. Waiting on the wall hanger. He never came. The bucks around here are getting fired up around then and I will wait for a wall hanger and thats it. Then there is november when it gets hot and heavy. Again I will be waiting for him. In november Is the only time I will pass on a mature doe with my bow. Just to look forward to seeing her boyfriend in toe. But hell the rest of the year it is whackem and stackem time with my bow. I think there is just somthing about those backstraps waddleing around my tree, thats all I see!!!!!

I find that the legalities of the area can make that decision for you. We have a buck only tag here that you aply for the doe sticker off of and they are for a certain zone only. So If you don't get the doe tag you will have to watch a lot of deer go by because if they don't have visible horns they walk away. The first buck for me that comes out goes down. When I do get a doe tag the first decent size deer that apears is going down. I don't want a fawn but a yearling would taste good.

Between Va and NC tags I have plenty . Either way, whether its a mature doe or buck, I still get the fever and that is a prize in its own. I am also an opportunist hunter, if the opportunity presents itself and I have a tag I'm taking the shot. So I guess that classifies me as a meat hunter.
