I am a meat hunter. I won't pass on a nice buck, but until we have at least a couple deer in the freezer, Thats what my objective is. Later in the season if we have deer in the freezer, I will become more discriminating as to what I will shoot. I just love sitting in my tree stand. I don't have to launch an arrow to have a successfully hunt. All that being said, I believe any deer taken at close range with the bow, can be considered a trophy.

Hmm, trophy or meat. The answer is....yes. The doe in the freezer, usually first, followed(hopefully) by the buck without his horns. At least, that's the plan!!!

Were we get one deer a year and only have doe tag by draw I will take the first buck that comes out for meat and if I have a doe tag then it is the first deer that comes that is not younger than a yearling.

Who said if it's brown it's down? That's the way I feel about that tasty treat known as "VENISON".

Put me down as a meat hunter. The wife and I have lived on moose meat for the last 26 years. The one year that we bought beef we could not wait to get back to eating moose. This year was the first year that I took one with a bow. He was a small one but tasty.

I am going to have to go the other way and say trophy hunter. I have bowhunted for a lot of years and killed my share of small bucks but now trying to kill a mature buck with a mountable rack is my quest every year. I don't have a problem with anyone else shooting small bucks but I just enjoy the extra challange of chasing the big ones. I also kill several does a year, I love the meat and it helps our over abundant herd here.

For the first month, i'll probably try and hold out for a mature buck, but after that any mature animal that I come across will be going down. I havnt actually taken a deer yet with bow, but this is what i'm going to be going by this fall.
