You know what, I think that unless you are somebody important, as in someone that can do something for them, very few manufacturers really care about their customer base. That's why the small companies have such good service (in my experience), because at that level the customer really can do something for them. The big companies rely on the Pro Shop guys to do the selling, and servicing, and really dont want to be bothered otherwise.... Thats why I have my own press, arrow saw...etc.....I've had my share of dealing with the nonsense.... Should I start mentioning names? Nah, I'll leave that for another thread.... Couldn't have said it better myself! Only one person to blame if it gets screwed up.

Guess im one of the "suckers" then. I had got into bowhunting on my own in 2003, had no one to show me how to shoot much less tune a bow. So i relied on the "pro shops" and for years i got recomended crap arrows and my bows were tuned quickly and just good enough for the owner to say well its in your shooting because the bow is tuned perfectly. BLAH! so finally i hear about this guy named crackers that tunes bows very well. I sent him my Tribute,to see if he could do anything with it better then my pro shop. I got a new string and cable put on it and a tune job for $75.00 and he kept my bow for 2 days. That was cheaper then i could buy the strings for at my pro shop. Bow came back shooting day and night different with broadheads and 14fps faster. Since then i have bought all of my own tools and presses and started working on all of my friends bows that i have got into the sport over the years but i dont build strings. The guy answers the phone everytime i call it and answers any questions that i have about tuning. I do not agree with calling people "suckers" for sending them your bow, they get a quality tune job that most of us can't get from the 20yr olds working behind the pro shop counters. And even if you are on a list for 250 days, its not like he keeps your bow that long, you simply send it to him when your name comes up. He keeps it 2 days and its back at your door. I dunno just seems like "junior high" to see everyone casting stones at this guy. His attention to detail is the reason there are such long waiting periods. Hopefully i am far enough along in my bowtuning that i wont need his services in the future, but all im saying is for the guys that dont know how to tune it or have the time Crackers is a great option to have.
Peace! PD

Guess im one of the "suckers" then..... PD No....I dont believe anyone said that There was a guy who flew his bow to crackers and such but I dont believe anyone is saying that anyone who uses him is a sucker I do believe that you saw what I have seen in the pro shops out there and I dont believe crackers is doing anything more than I can and do do for others. That is to say .... do the job that you are supposed to know how to do What I generally recommended for people is to do just what you did. Buy the tools and learn from the books and your mistakes.

I think you misinterpreted what the term "sucker" was meant for. I did say I view many of them as suckers, but not all. The situation for which you sent your bow in for in the first place; uderstandable. Worth $75? If you think it was, then it was. It would not be for me. But then again, he was not in existence back then. I just put that money towards a press, some books and a video and learned to do it myself and picked up things from fellow archers and by trial and error. The only person I trust to pay enough "attention to detail" on my bow is me. And I am sorry, but I must disagree. His long waiting periods are because he is a good salesman and marketer and some folks think there is some sort of magical voodoo in what he does. I'm sure he is good at tuning bows. Heck, I even requested his string and cables on my new bow; they are good. But, those who could be doing the same themselves are the suckers.

It's coming back to me now. Wasn't there guys who were paying for 3-6 fps? Yes...thats a sucker Spiker was a guy who would have done well to have had his PSE worked on by crackers..... rather than PSE ;D As I said....crackers does what you would expect....nothing more than that when it comes to bows.

I wished I was cracker. Then I'd love my job. But then again I'd probably be the busiest when I want to take time off to hunt.
