The Katera is one of the smoothest drawing bows I have ever drawn. It stays real consistent from the start of the draw, until the end. I really liked that. Scott just bought a Katera XL and he loves it. If I'm not mistaken the Kobalt is a replacement of sorts for the Selena, which Jen shoots.

Good feedback, tedicast...have you shot Mathews bows and would you say it has a single cam feel then, like a Switchback for example?

The new Hoyts are pretty nice though. I shot the Mathews DXT and really thought the Drenalin was better.

I have shot both the Mathews DXT, and the Drenalin LD. I currently shoot a Drenalin.
Here is the review I posted on Mathews, after shooting the DXT the day my shop got it.
I just got back from my local shop, and I shot the DXT. Personally, I didn't like the bow. Not saying that it is a bad bow, but it isn't the bow for me. Here are my thoughts...
"Lost Camo"... I liked the camo. Not bad looking at all. The camo wouldn't stop me from buying the bow.
The new cam looks like it will be a lot easier on the serving then the Dren is.
I really didn't care for the 29 3/4" ata. A little short for my taste.
I shot the bow at 65 pounds, and it was absolutely dead in the hand, and quiet, with just a rest on the bow.
The shop bow maxed out at 71 pounds. 29"@71lbs, with a 351 grain arrow, the bow consistently shot 308-310.
The thing that I really didn't care for about the bow was the draw cycle. It really stacked up toward the end of the draw. In my opinion, no where near as smooth drawing as the dren, or the xt. But, the bow was a bit long for me, but everyone that shot the bow while Iwas there agreed.
I'm sure some people are gonna love the bow, and i'm sure some are gonna hate it. I'm leaning toward the Dren LD personally.
I really liked the LD when I shot it. Super smooth draw. Totally dead on the shot. I have a Blueberry LD on order.
Skip, I have to tell you. I was really tempted to shoot Hoyt this year. They have some great offerings. I had my choice of shooting either Hoyt, Bowtech, or Mathews this year, as a shop shooter. If the DXT was the only offering, I most likely would have chosen a Hoyt.

Thanks, tedicast...great feedback. I love the research stage of purchasing. Pouring over information and specs, looking at pics, hearing others' shooting impressions...big fun for me.

I finally really got the Vectrix set up. I put on WC string/cables and had my bow tech tune it up. Man that thing shoots so freakin' good. I gave it to my father for christmas and almost couldn't give it up. I shot it indoors while the guys were changing the lights behind ne so it was pretty dark and I put 10 out of 10 shots in the "x" on a 300 target. even while playing around and sitting, shooting standing on 1 leg and such!
I don't need a new bow but I may pick up a Katera or even a vectrix this year. I have to wait and see how the GTO shoots first though.

I dunno. The Katera was nice but to be honest....I like the little Kolbalt. I got nothing to prove and if I can hit 300 then it'll smoke most rigs out there today anyway Actually Tedicast , I liked Jens bow alot when I checked it out this summer. Nice and light , just like a recurve kinda

The bare bow weight of the Kobalt is the same as Jens Selena.
