I've been looking around at peep sights, and was wondering what size is best for hunting application? Thanx..John

I used to just buy the biggest I could get. I think they make some bigger these days - I used to buy the biggest and then file it out with a round file to get a bit more. HOWEVER - that said, I now feel that you should shoot a round sight, and size the peep so that when at full draw the peep opening allows you to just see the reflecting edge of the sight housing. Hence, it depends a bit on draw length. Make sense?

You'll get lots of input on that but the vast majority will suggest a large dia while I use a micro. (I use my peep as an alignment devise) The large dia. allows more light for low light conditions but with a dusk devil sight I have no issues with shooting light

I recently got a G-5 peep. It is 1/4 inch. I have been shooting late in the evening to test it and wow. It is great.

I shoot the G5 3/16 inch. Any bigger and I feel like I see too much...it's too hard to get very centered in the peep. since I started shooting 2 eyes open I have no problems with low light shooting.
I have to say that I think the G5 is he best peep out there. It is blue and gathers light well and the amount of material around the hole is minimal, so you don't really notice it.

I'm also ghooting with a G5 Meta peep. I an currently using a 1/4" for hunting and 3D, but will go to a smaller aperature when I have a 3D only bow.

I use a 1/4". I like being able to see the ring around my sights thru my peep. I think the peep on my Grizzly was 3/16 but even after I drilled it out some I couldn't see the glow-in-the-dark ring on the Dusk Devil II sight. With the one I have now I can see ring on the Flashpoint. Now it is just a matter of centering the ring in the round hole and put the right pin on the right spot.
