Here's an opinion from a fence jumper
Compounds can be a real pain in the ass and can cost you a truck load of money
If you miss your arrow is gone
If you hit a tree or rock....something is gone....be it the head, nock or the shaft , depending on what you hit
And lets not forget broadhead flight
Now you will know the true worth of what I am offering here ;D ;D
The equipment can get stupid as well
Releases are great but you can forget them or lose them and if you set up for one you wont be able to shoot without one unless you just get stupid lucky.
I'd suggest shooting fingers off a good magnet flipper rest with a burger button
Strings are stupid expensive as well as cables.
Replace strings every 5000 shots at $45 - 100. a set
;D
Cable wear leads to timing issues which will drive you crazy as you fight to keep your arrows on target ;D
You will learn all about timing when that happens to you
OH!
...I forgot about how you are going to get that string off in order to change it
Yes!....you are now a prisoner of the Pro Shop
Or you can get a cheap press....cheap meaning a couple hundred bucks
I jest....you can actually get one that will only need to be replaced ever few years for 1/2 of that
Now in the event that you are going to hunt with it....
Compounds are clumsy and heavy and will wear you out when stalking
On the upside you can always beat a bull Moose to death with it if you were to run out of arrows
Are you using sights?
Pity you if you are because the best sights can be knocked out of adjustment seemingly without a nudge at times and you wont know it till you shoot
Oh yeah....your gonna find out all kinds of issues exist with your form that you never knew existed ;D ;D
Torque and cant and lean and square and on and on ;D ;D
At some point you will swear that you can fix all these issues with some piece of equipment or maybe
....yes , definitely ....a better bow (new of course;) )
;D
And then you will see a slight improvement and then you will be hooked as you attempt to become better through technology
But take my word for it....they are fun
