Guys, I know that there is some history with him, but I just learned that Gary Cooper aka OLDHOOTOWL, the owner and designer of the Slick Trick line of broadheads passed away Friday. I learned of it on AT. Go rest high on that mountain, Mr. Cooper. His designing will be missed.

He brought something worthwhile to the world before he left. Not everyone can say that. Rest in peace Gary.

I have not had a problem with the blades on the ST100 mag despite your testing and saying they have problems. I do sharpen mine before I use them and my shots have not went through the scapula, just the ribs. All pass throughs, great entrance and exit holes. The bevel I get is less of an angle than factory and it is very repeatable on a Truangle hone.

When you spend money on brand new broadheads they should be ready to go out of the package. JMO, Bob I agree, the degree of the bevel on most is less than 20 degrees, however. If you encounter much resistance, the edge will not stand up with lesser angle without some good metal. GK seem to have the only metal that will allow you to get by without extra attention in my experiences. I like 25 degrees, so I sharpen most of mine like that. Most bh's are sharp out of the package, but I expect more from mine and improve them. I do not mind taking the extra time.
