I'm not sure why I never gave it any thought but figured when it says 305 fps on the stock it should be so!!Ya right After a friend told me they needed a new string to hit that speed I checked mine and he was right 281 fps solid every shot!!I was a little let down but it seems every thing in life these days is a little let down :-/The bolts are 420 gr.so I end up with 73.66 KE and I can live with that!!It is right on out to 50 yards so I'll live with what I have!!That's a lot more KE than I have with my bow!

Correct. You need the FFF string and a 350g arrow to reach that speed. It is like the IBO ratings but not standardized like IBO. The Dacron string which comes with the xbow is more forgiving if there is a dryfire. I always carry a second string in the truck that has spent some time on the bow at the range so it is already stretched in. The Excals are great shooters. Have you shot broadheads yet or just field points? Those firebolts shoot best with a heavy broadhead like the 150g bolt cutter. Bob

Yes Bob I have two packs of the 150 gr.B/H and they shoot great. As long as I can keep it steady I am 99% sure it will do it's job as long as I do mine!I took one shot out of a tree stand at my Rignhart deer target at 20 yards and hit with in 1/2 inch of my aim point. The bolt went in to half the fletchings!!Never had that with my bow arrows

I am looking forward to you posting another bruiser. It won't be long now. I can't wait. I always shoot supported. I use a monopod when I am on the ground and the rail when I am in my climber. Crossbows are heavy. The only problem with the factory setup is the lack of selection of broadheads in the 150g -200g range. I compensate when I build my arrows by putting a heavier "brass" insert in so I can shoot 100g broadheads and still have the same weight forward on the arrow. The brass insert weighs 110g and the standard aluminum front insert weighs 43g. IIRC Bob
