I have shot the stinger and buzzcuts and just shot the snuffer. They advertise the snuffer as razor sharp, I don't think so, sharp, but I can't see shaving hair with one.
The problem I have with these one piece heads are the beveled edge. I get razor sharp edges with around a 15 degree bevel. I can't see how these bevels can ever get there when each side is layed flat on a stone. Having 3 sides means each side is 120 degrees of the whole. 2 edges per side without the bevel makes them each 60 degrees. Even with the compound angle of the bevel I can't see them much less than 25. Just isn't a bevel razor sharp can get too.
I really want these to work and I want them to slice through the game, not push things out of the way on the way through. A razor will cut with just pressure, these don't, I can run my finger over them.
What's the best way to get the edges down to a 15 degree angle, got a tool?
My problem with the buzzcuts are the bleeders, I don't think they produce a big enough hole. If the head hits on a horizontal plane the slice won't open while the animal flees like it would if it hit verticel, every step would open the wound. I shot one and it didn't produce a blood trail, all the blood stayed inside the rib cage. A 3 blade head would never leave just a horizontal slice.

Thanks for the link. I really don't have a problem getting things razor sharp, I get my block plain blades to the point where I can shave the end grain of hard woods, pretty much the ultimate test of sharpness. Try doing that with a head and see how wicked sharp it is. It's one thing to make a curl of wood along the grain and another to make one on the end grain. A Stanley knife blade will do it, but not as good as my block plane blades. Neither are of the same angle as a one piece 3 blade head. It's the bevel angle that bugs me. If a 3 blade head like a muzzy is laid flat the bevel of each blade does not rest on a flat surface, only the edge of the blade does. That's the angle of razor sharp. Take a Stanley knife blade and rest the angle on a flat surface, compare it to a heads lay. My butchering knives are not something to rest a body part on, but they are old school, very thin strong steel in a long blade. I'd say that in one pass with light pressure they could slice through a ham. Professional sharpeners use belts (Like belt sanders) of different grits to get a polished razor sharp edge, That's what I do, but that can't be done with a head like this at the known razor angle. Was hopping someone had come up with a jig by now. Used G5's once, they are the same, first deer I ever lost was using them, just don't produce blood every where like a razor does.

There are jigs out there. Try Bob Radocy, president of Gamelines Archery Club out of Boulder, CO. Here is the link to contact info: www.gamelinesarchery.com/contact.shtmlBob made a jig that might do what you are talking about. It was never a big seller, not enough profit in selling them or something like that, but I saw the one he has when we went pig hunting earlier this year. I think he has some left for sale, you might email him at the listed club email and see what he has left. Seemed to work really well on 3 blade tips. PS - Gamelines is a great archery range! If you are ever in the Boulder area, in Colorado, let me know and I'll show it to you...

Just reviewed what you wrote originally - you are looking for a 2 blade jig, or three? Ask Bob if his jig will do both, I didn't see him working on a 2 blade that I remember...

I want to take a fixed 3 blade head and reduce each bevel down to about 15 degrees. As it is each side of the head lays flat on a stone, I want the bevel less than that. 2 blade heads are already at a 15 degree bevel along with most 3 blade replaceable heads. Muzzy's, thunderheads. I'm sure silverflames are.
