allow use of crossbow equipment for hunting , remove obsolete specifications for crossbow arrows. remove restrictions on the use of crossbows on state-owned lands.I thought crossbows were already legal in CT?. The way they wrote this, you would think it wasn't legal currently. Whatever.... I guess it takes a lawyer to muck up a thought bad enough to be stating a fact that makes it look like it is not a fact I would feel more confident if the wording said "removal of restrictions pertaining to the use of crossbbows by the general public.

I believe you could only use them during the January season in just zones 11 and 12 on private land in the past

Anyone with a permanent injury that has a Doctor sign and fill out a form and passes the state review board can use a cross bow.

I believe you could only use them during the January season in just zones 11 and 12 on private land in the past Correct Anyone with a permanent injury that has a Doctor sign and fill out a form and passes the state review board can use a cross bow. Correct. I have been hunting Mass and Connecticut with a crossbow for years due to a back injury. The "permanent injury" requirement creates a problem for an archer who has something like a torn rotator cuff that is repaired through surgery. Because it is not a permanent injury they can lose an entire season of bowhunting. The way I read the regulation changes (confirmed by Encon) is that the 450g minimum arrow weight is going to be removed but the 200lb draw weight maximum will stay in force. Also, the loaded crossbow regulation change would mean that a crossbow would not be considered loaded unless there was an arrow on the rail as opposed to the current definition that a cocked crossbow is considered a loaded weapon whether an arrow is on the rail or not. www.cthuntingnshooting.com/vBforum/showthread.php?15087-Notice-of-Intent-to-Amend-Hunting-and-Trapping-Regulations-Crossbow-Reg-ChangesBob
