Taken off AT
I used to absolutely love blazer vanes but the new ones with the grooves down the middle dont have any curve to them to fit the arrow shaft, they are straight across and there is always one edge that does not get glued down so you have to run an extra bead of glue down that edge to make sure that it does not rip off they used to be awesome but this new design is horrible!
__________
Anyone seen this issue that is being referred too?

Blazers have always had that flat base...they would be nicer if they had the "cup" like Duravanes, or similair types. Still, I have never, ever, did I say NEVER...had a problem with Blazers sticking. Here's the secret formula.. Bohning Platinum, a green 3M pad, Blazer Vanes. 1.Sand the area to be fletched with the 3M pad..do not wipe, leave the particles on the shaft. (Do not use acetone, or any cleaning solvent!) 2. Place fletch in clamp, wipe base on T-SHIRT...expand stomach to facilitate this move. 3. Apply a strip of glue to the base of the fletch making sure all of the base is covered. 4. Fletch vane to desired orientation on shaft (don't be a dumbass and offset so much that one side of the fletch doesn't touch the shaft). Using a paper towel piece, wipe off any excess glue. Leave it in the jig for 5 min so that the strong plastic vane doesn't try to straighten out.(Biggest mistake when fletching Blazers (IMHO). 5. Apply one drop of glue to the front, and rear of each vane where it meets the shaft, and allow 24 hours to cure. Once again, I have never had a problem with vanes not sticking unless I shoot them off.

So what is this "first one" that he is referring too as opposed to the "new ones" ?

I only had that problem with I tried to put a helical fletch, a couple degree offset works just as good and doesn't look as ugly.
I do the same thing Spiker except I wipe the dust off the shaft with a napkin or paper towel - no other type of cleaner added.

The easiest solution is to use the Duravane Predator. I just sent my cousin in Virginia a pack to try becuase he was complaining about the Blazers not completely making contact with the shaft. We both use the Grayling fletcher and GoldTip arrows and I had no issues with the Predators.
