On archery software such as Archer's Advantage, I get the recommended arrow spine of .570-.600. The Easton shaft selector guide does as well. However, it seems that everyone else suggests .500 spine shafts. Today my proshop owner was real hesitant about setting me up with an arrow in that .570-.600 range. So we compromised on the Easton Lightspeed 500's. Why is that? Who's right? There are shafts like the Epic 600's and ACC's that are that softer spine. I just don't get it

shops tend to lean towards a stiff arrow - it's a safe bet; however imperfect. Does your shop have any arrows in the spine you want that you can fling to test 'em out?

Did you buy those Lightspeeds yet? No, I put in the request today. But they have not been ordered yet by the shop.

I had Archery's Advantage and now have On-Target. As far as spine goes, the On-Target seems more accurate to me. I'm in the process of setting up a a bow and set of arrows for a friend's son from square one with all it's recommendations just to see just how good it is.

On Target has got me in the .565-.600 spine as well. I just now ignore the fact that the speed is way off. The spine recommended is still the same.

Just a heads up. Those Lightspeeds are BRITTLE! I busted a few at BTs, with skip, after missing a 3d target (because of misjudged range), and it they just shattered..here's a pic of what was left. I ran through a dozen in less than 3 months...the hogs will snap them like twigs when they roll. They are however an awesome target shaft, and are very consistant, just not something that you might want to use on hogs unless you can afford it...JMHO..

I have seen Easton shafts explode in mid flight and personally wont use them. I just mention this as my personal observations and wouldn't make recommendations for others based on those observations because there are alot of those shafts out there. Some in pieces and some at full length. I am willing to bet that the lighter bows will handle them pretty well. (aside from the roll overs ;D )

If a hog does in an arrow, I won't be too upset. But just missing the target shouldn't do in an arrow. I had a Goldtip XT 35/55 snap in mid air a few months ago. It was one of the strangest things
