Anyone set goals yet?.... My goal is to find a Bow that has more weight. A real challenge anymore unless you go custom It's not a goal that is absolute....I just want to find a bow that feels good and that I can shot well, sized to my new shooting stlye....which has me short drawing by a significant amount. #70 @ 26" would be ideal I think Another goal is to hunt all year with the recurve without allowing myself to cave in to any lost opportunities, which always have me running back to the compound Thats a real goal for me...that takes more nerve to chance a lost opportunity than to eliminate that chance. This will mean that I will really have to change my stands (some) to be spot on where the deer travel and I will have to ensure that cover isn't going to consist of leafs that will be gone long before the season ends. One last goal is to stop smoking. I just dont care enough or maybe I am just to stressed most of the time but whatever the reason...I wont quit without an assist. Fortunitly...I think I have found a very real solution Smoking really doesn't hurt my deer hunting....I have taken dozens of deer while smoking in the stand. But smoking is really hurting my lungs and there is no ignoring it anymore The last deer I drug out damn near killed me I think So thats it....3 things and only two that I really really want to get done.

BT I wish you the best of luck with this one. I don't smoke but both my parents have and one still does. It has to be something you really want. I can assure you every month your smoke free you will see the difference. Good Luck. My only real goals are to do better on my fishing circuit and repeat my season of 4 yrs ago when I took 2 bucks that were both around 150'' thats more of a dream but if we're setting goals they might as well be high. Last but not least I want to get my wife in front of a decent buck.

Throw out those cancer sticks!! Really, they are a waste of money , and good health. I smoked for over 20 years, and quit going on 3 years now. You will not be sorry. Oh yeah, my goal is to shoot around 330 fps this year.

My main archery goal for 2009 is consistency. . It is always something I have lacked. My shooting set-up for 3d (bow and accessories, release, arrows) has been the same for almost a year. This is the first time since I have really started shooting seriously, that I have a system I am comfortable with. My practice sessions have been very promising lately. Tried a few minor things over the winter, that have seemed to help. All to do with form and release. My first 3D of 2009 went well, I shot 274, out of 300, and i dropped some stupid easy points. I easily could have been 10 points higher. For me to be dissapointed shooting a '74 isn't a bad thing. Wasn't long ago I would have been hooting and hollering.
From a hunting standpoint, seat time is my main goal. My other hunting goal is to finally make a perfect shot on a deer.
On top of it all, I just want to remember 2009 as fun year archery wise.

For "09" I would like to get my bow shop finished. Become a better shot with allot more practice. I would also like to have more time in the stand this year. I have two friends that this year we are going to try our hardest to get out and hunt together. It has been hard to do so in the years past so this year we promised each other to due so. I would like to also get my son out in the woods with me more and he is starting to get really interested in shooting his bow. I need to feed the fire now before it is to late. Maybe if all goes well I might get him a better bow when the time is right. I want to take a mature buck that will out score my best so far with a bow. The list will grow as the year progresses but this is a start.

My goals for the year, just on what is planned right now, are to take a buck and doe, a turkey, a wild hog, and a bear with my bow. I have a bear hunt planned for Thanksgiving in East Tennessee and may be able to hunt the whole week. I can only take one bear a year and, as of right now, I plan on half and half between my bow and my rifle, with the bow going out first. If a bear is taken, it will be my first. The others or very attainable as they are all present on the lease I belong to. I also want to quit tobacco, smokeless, but that is a goal for every year. Maybe I will make it this time. I hope to have the hog taken care of this weekend on a planned hog hunt at Big South Fork NP. If not, then within a couple of weeks at the lease.

My goals for this year - archery wise...
Get to know the 101st that I bought around the first of the year a whole lot better... Shoot more with one of my longbows... Continue my quest to make the perfect longbow, of natural materials... Spend more time at the range and out stump shooting... Quit working these stupid long hours... Enjoy each shot, whether it hit the bullseye or missed... Try to get one more person passionately interested in my sport... Even just one would be enough.

BT after about 30 years as a smoker I quit 5 years ago. I had forgotten what it was like to get up in the morning and not be hacking. If I can do it then I am positive that you can. Good luck. My goals are to take a black bear with my long bow this spring and try to get a moose with it this fall. Also there is my third attempt for antelope in MT. I will be successful this time maybe.

You kill me, 70# from a guy that has been so a gin the need for anybody to shoot that much. jk My goal is to kill things or have friends and family kill things for me to feed the family. I was fortunet this year to have a brother help me out as things didn't work out my way this past season. Game was about as scarce as work is becoming now.
