I suggested the crossbow first and he isn't against it , he just really wants to shoot the traditional bow.
I think I'll have to see what he can do and go from there.
As was suggested....if we want hunters we have to recruit and to be willing to cut into our own time in order to insure that experiences are satisfying enough to continue on.

Recruiting is great but you may be setting him up for failure in the same sense. Failure can be more of a deterant than anything. What I mean: Like Skip mentioned, you have to take 'Buck Fever" into account. He may be able to group with some consistency in 3 months but throw in the adrenaline rush of anticipation and the moment of truth and it introduces a totally new level. The last thing you want to worry about is where the arrow "might" end up which is why I suggested waiting for the Fall.
Truthfully, only you, Kris, will be able to make this determination since you know him.
By the way, if it's Wayne we're talking about, take him with you! I want to hear ALL about how he blew the shot and all the excuses he comes up with!!! ;D

Very good points Scotty but as skip said....that can happen anywhere and if it is going to happen then a preserve is the best case scenario. I agree with that statement If I were going to experience a mistake I would be far better for the experience if I got a recovery as opposed to a loss. A loss could turn me off forever whereas a recovered wound would educate and afford me the knowledge of what I did wrong so that it did not happen again. The guy is an X heavy weight prize fighter.... nerves are something I think he will suffer less from than the average Joe. He certainly has been in far more exciting conditions with far more dire peril while maintaining composure
