Hmmm .... kind of curious to know what kind of snake that is. Black Racer...good snake to have around as they eat mice and rats. They are aggressive...I put him down and he decided to come after me. Pretty comical. If you are going to hunt the swamps of Florida, ya better know your snakes. I wouldn't recommend anyone picking one up otherwise. You sure wouldn't want to grab hold of a young mocassin.

Any one that would pick up a snake is nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate the darn things and the only good one is a dead one!!! Get near me with one and I'd have a fit, but then again that is just me. See them on the screen and I have to pick my feet off the floor it is that bad with me.!!

Red, Thanks buddy for not killing her. Like you said black snakes are good to have around the house to keep mice and rats away. They may eat a few eggs if you have chickens and such but are harmless. I dont like killing any snake but if you have kids or pets poisonous ones must go, I do agree there.
Mocassin are definitley only good when dead. Not sure what it is about water snakes but they always are pissed off. ;D

I hate black racers, wouldn't kill one though, there just a real nervous snake. supprise he is just laying there like that. they are usally off to the races when you get that close. Black rat snakes are a lot more friendly.

I don't mind snakes, but I agree one has to know what kind is at hand!
I worked for two years in South America, spent my share of time in the bush. Once, in S.E. Bolivia, we ran over a rather large python type snake (don't remember for sure what it was) with the heavy equipment. Hung the snake over a sign, which I could only just touch the top of... I am 6'4". The snake still had both ends on the ground. The crew took it back to camp to skin. Along about midnight, my tent-mate went out to finish processing some beer... He hated snakes. All snakes. The moon was out, he was still drunk... With one foot on each side of the skinned remains. Having had two daughters, I can tell you with accuracy that it sounded a lot like an 11 or 12 year old girl at the top of her lungs. Screaming for dear life, and wetting everything in sight.
