1st rule: Never draw a bow without an arrow nocked. 2nd rule: Always point the bow in a safe direction. In spite of being a dumbazz, these two rules saved my bow, and probably a wall in my house. Unfortunately, I took the brunt of the blunder, but I'm ok, just bruised up, and cut a little bit. While checking the poundage on my bow with my Easton Draw Scale, it slipped from my hand at full draw....doh! It was the craziest thing yet that's ever happened to me in archery. The scale hit my bow hand, opening up a knuckle...by blunt force..very painful, and seared off the containment bar on my Qad....dammmit! Luckily...arrow nocked, and pointed at the bag target!! Thank god it wasn't one of those Metal spring type hand held scales...I would have had a broken hand. Also, luckily nothing else on the bow got touched.

Some things just tick a fellow off more so than others, don't they...
So, does the scale still work?

Dang, you've been having some weird luck lately my friend...bound to change soon. Glad it wasn't worse...you could have sent an arrow through your flat screen.

It is cheaper to buy a new scale than rebuilding your hand. ;D Glad the arrow did not do some major damage. ghost

I know the feeling....blank baling in my garage with my Carter Evo a few years back. Hot summer night...a little sweaty...Couldn't get the release to fire, so I relaxed my hand...a little too much, and all hell broke loose. I honestly didn't know what happened...thought a limb broke, untill i realized my release was at my feet, and not in my hand. The release slipped out of my hands, slammed into the roller gaurd on my drenalin hit my workbench, and landed at my feet. Luckily, the release missed my hand. Arrow throught the wall into my computer room. $65 for a new roller gaurd....$180 for a new Evo....and needed a change of underwear.
You would think I learned my lesson...just picked up a hinge to play with. Carter Atension...stay tuned for another story...lol

I think my Hoyts have put a curse on me for spending too much time with the Mathews Red... Tedicast, didn't your brother loose his release on his old Hoyt that he sold to skip? Man, it's just something that you never think can happen until it does. I hope everyone is learning something from this. Keep the stories coming.

Those Hoyts just have to learn to accept who the lead dog is.

I had a release with a Velcro wrist strap and was out shooting it in the winter. I had the Velcro let go at full draw. Broke the trigger off the release, missed my hand and put a big ding in the arrow rest.
