I am concerned about the great difference between FT an BH tipped arrows. What variation would you consider normal and what would you consider excessive?

By variation I assume you mean in group size. I don't notice a difference with any of the passing heads, at least at 30yds. In the Judgement Call DVD I tune a bow that I have not shot before so that 3 different passing heads and a field point hit within an inch or so of each other at 30yds.

An inch~! I don't know about that skipper I don't think you could call that an inch! ..... I mean...the same hole has got to be less than an inch --------- To answer your question MRC........I consider anything over spot on to be excessive but in the real world I would say that there is no reason to not be able to group an inch or less at 30yrds. provided you are capable of that kind of shooting to begin with

I do not mean group size so much as group location; BH vs. FP. I am seeing the 2 groups about 4 to 6 inches from each other...

By flight tuning and tweaking your rest just a little, you will be able to get the heads spot o with your FP's. Assuming your arrow spine isn't way off and your cams are timed. It's a very simple and quick process to do.
