This may not be the right place for this but....... this call was promised to a guy in NY state in return for some turkey feathers for my trad bows. He saw the one I made for Stillearnin' and asked for one...so, I went to work yesterday while it was snowing and came up with this. I painted the scene instead of burning it in. I like to try new things so here it is. What do you think? Critique welcome....

Wow! Very nice indeed!!! Will the paint stay put in wet weather? Will it wear well? Or is this a "for show only" call?

Wow! Very nice indeed!!! Will the paint stay put in wet weather? Will it wear well? Or is this a "for show only" call? SMJ, I don't make show pieces as some do....I believe that these things should be used, that's where the true value comes from. I expect the paint to stay...I'll bury it under 2-3 coats of spray tru-oil, and a final dulling spray of satin poly. should be fine I think. Now this gentleman may take one look and hang it up, I dunno. I had the choice of 2 Winchester rifles my Dad owned before he left us. One he bought and NEVER used...the other was the one he had used for the past 40 years to harvest ALOT of deer and moose....I chose the latter one, nicks and all!
