I found the below on Bowsite. Do these numbers look about right?
< 25 ft. lbs. Small Game 25-41 ft. lbs. Medium Game (deer, antelope, etc.) 42-65 ft. lbs. Large Game (elk, black bear, wild boar, etc.) > 65 ft. lbs. Toughest Game (Cape Buffalo, Grizzly, etc.)

Sounds about right according to Easton. In my experience, most people shoot more than they need and most compound bows shoot more than needed. My set up gives me about 75# and that is more than enough for anything in the U.S. I have shot deer and they never move other than to look up and around and then they wobble and fall. I shot a doe once and she jumped, ran about 5 yds., stopped looked around and drop her head to go back to eating and folded. I think 40-45 is plenty for deer myself. From what I have read, that's about average for traditional equipment, but not real sure.

On the very first deer I ever shot, the arrow completely passed through and landed some 10yds beyond the doe. 33lbs KE. And I'm sure it's been done time and time again with less. . I wonder, if I eat my Wheaties, and work up to 60lbs on my 82nd, could I go after Cape Buffalo?

I found the below on Bowsite. Do these numbers look about right? 25-41 ft. lbs. Medium Game (deer, antelope, etc.) 42-65 ft. lbs. Large Game (elk, black bear, wild boar, etc.) > 65 ft. lbs. Toughest Game (Cape Buffalo, Grizzly, etc.) It's right for broadside/perfect shot placement, centered through ribs. Way over board for flesh/partial rib penetration. Not near enough for hard penetration on either side of the scale. It also doesn't factor in distance which most people do not consider at the shot distance.
