Being retired, handy and cheep I had a brain storm the other day.I had a piece of carpet from the dump that I use when I polish guns for bluing. It's nice to have on the floor when your buffing wheel with a 1 HP motor rips it out of your hand down to the floor! The carpet just happens to be buckskin in color. The piece is5'X7.' I got an old can of spray paint(also from the dump)we have a shack for things people don't want but are still good I sprayed the outline of a deer on it and draped it over my backstop!MAKE SURE you have your target area covered from behind, carpet woun't slow the arrows down much. The carpet is big so I hung it over a 2x4 with one end on my lawn mower handle! It's nice and fuzzy when I'm pulling out my arrows ;D

I do the same for my backstop. Built a 6' sawhorse and have 2 strips of carpet draped over it so it makes 4 layers, put my burley in front. I only have 22 yds in my backyard and occasionally get pass thru's of my burley, this keeps my arrows out of the cinder block wall.

It works and is cheap. If you go to the carpet shops around here , you can get all the carpet you want for free most times , from the left overs

I have set up a range in my basement and I had an old area rug that we were no longer going to use. The rug is not much of an arrow stop, but the underlayment is an older sisal fiber with rubberized binder. The fibers are resistant to cutting and folded in half it will stop a broadhead that gets through my target and the two layers of carpet. (At least the first several in the same general area ) By moving my target about I have had no trouble with pass throughs into the concrete wall I am shooting a Martin Warthog Magnum at between 50 and 55 lbs, 10-17 yards.
