Just think of all that good exercise ... 20 stations of push-ups, jump rope, sit-ups, climbing the rope into the tree stand, running hill climbs (you got 20 seconds to get to the next station and shoot HUMP IT!) ;D ;D

I think 3D is almost exactly "hunting practice". You are taking shots at "game animals" at ranges, in terrain and locations you would be hunting them. There is no difference between an animal and the target. You HAVE to be able to make the shot. The only difference I see at all, is we are able to practice out range estimation on the 3D course. Most hunters wouldn't be shooting 40-55yds on a guess, they'd use their range finders. I see how BT can think that 3D can screw you into subconciously aiming at the wrong point. right now I am in an indoor hunter league. I am still in hunting mode so I have to stop myself and make sure I aim at the spot I should. I am programed to swing up the front leg of the animal and tough off as soon and my pin is 1/3 up the body just in front of the crease. If I don't stop myslef and really take aim where I want to hit, my arrow is gone in less than 3 seconds from draw to release. I could see how 3D could condition you the other way. even on targets that are positioned correctly reguarding the shooting angle and the vital markings, most of the vitals are way high and back. On the flip note. I know when I am done wioth my 20 weeks of indoor hunter, i will shoot a lot better than when I started because I take my time aiming and picking a spot. I don't even think of the targets as animals. I simply pick out the nickle sized 12 ring and focus on that. If you treated the 3D course the same way, it could be a huge benifit. but you'd have to only focus on the ring, not the animal for score. I prefer to try and score well, while kepping all my shots killing. I do love practiceing and shooting with friends, but the bottom line for me is I am trying to become a more effecient predator. It is all practice with a purpose. My points.

ok here I go and some of you will say "don't do that it will promote bad form"
We will somtimes play a little game were we have our targets in known ranges. We will come to full draw while aiming at the ground out in front of you. once at full draw one designated person will tell you which target, 30 yrds, 10, deer, turkey, racoon whatever we have out. The shooter will then have to pull onto the target and shoot as quick as they can and get a Kill shot. In real life that is what you may get just that split second to draw and then wait for that deer to step out from behind the tree into a small shooting lane. You need to be able to focus and shoot quickly but get the kill shot.
We will also get ready (bow in hand and arrows in the quiver) and the caller will say run to the top of the stairs, knock and arrow and shoot the 20 yard target. 20 yard target is only 20 yards from our shooting spot on the ground from the top of the stairs it may be 25 yards more or less you decide. Judge the distance, settle your breathing after the run up the stairs, focus and shoot as quick as you can again getting that kill shot. Next shot may be down the stairs over to a spot on the lawn and shoot that quarting away shot at Bambi. Again judge distance, settle breathing, heart rate (similar to what your heart does when that big one comes out) focus and shoot all in as quick a time frame as you can and get that kill shot.
Fun and a good trainer for focusing.
