Hitting too hard???

Went to target shoot the arrows to get in sharp, not body but the bull's eye. My buddy has the same arrows and uses the PSE bow (not so sure if that is the one) and I have the AR 34. He was up first and hits good, we can pull out the arrows. Next, me I hit them good but little off. Went to get the arrows out of the hay target (really made of some kind of moss looking as those used in easter egg baskets fillings, something like that and press very tight) boy I had a hard time pulling them out...two of us had to do that! Any of you guys who shoot those AR 34 have that hitting power?

Dad has AR34 with shop strings on it.
29" draw he is shooting over 270fps.
I can hear the difference when his bow hits the bag vs by 26"DL.
I make him shoot from 40 yds when he is visiting to try and have him take it easy on my bags stuffing. It gets annoying stuffing the internals back in after a few rounds of him hitting the same dot.
