Seeing that the deer I shoot don't have 2" dots when should I start on the 3-d type of target? I have been saving 11"pizza box cardboard rounds. Is it bad to mix them into my practice? In the real world I have to get used to picking a spot in a large brown area!Or should I stay on the 2"dots that I shoot at now trying to improve my form???

I agree with you're thinking. I would shoot a blank space in order to train yourself into finding a point of interest rather than a point of direction. With that said .... I wouldn't focus on center because that may translate into instinctively finding center. Instead , I would draw a line through the center and shoot for one side of the line or the other. Success would be to crowd the line while failure would be to cross the line.

Pick a darker grease spot out on the cardboard to shoot for. It's not really a defined spot but a small discoloration.....like hair on a deer. 3D targets are nice and do help but it's no big deal, just get used to hitting whatever you aim at
