Hey all, got a call tonight from my friends wife(my friend also happens to be my boss That he killed his bull, and needed help getting him out.Loaded up the fam,in the Jeep and went to help. Ended up driving as close as I could then using my winch to pull this bugger out, then used my tow strap to drag him to my buddy Jacks' pickup. I know this is an archery site but my friend busts his butt all year and only gets to hunt a few days each fall.Sorry if guns offend but I had to share, I'm so happy for him. Jack and his wife Stephanie and his 6x6 bull. Jack riding his elk behind my Jeep on the way out ;D Jack , my kids and myself once we made it to his truck Again hope I don't offend but, thought some would enjoy. Ster

wapitifever - you tell your pal that we think he's got himself a fine bull there! Elk hunting is hard hunting, whether you are shooting a bow or a rifle and he should be darn pleased with himself over that one!!! And you sir, are a good man to go help him like that. Hauling out an elk is no small thing. Tell him, too, that if he don't at the least have you over for all the elk steak you can eat my opinion of him will drop precipitously!

PS - Most folks quarter them, at least, and pack'em out in chunks... I got to tell you, looking at him riding the elk behind the jeep - dude! - the cape is getting dragged! That damages the hide, slips the hair, ... AHHHHH! Don't do that again, OK? I can hear it now - "Nice rack... How come theres no hair on that elks chin? " ;D

;D ;D Hey how do I get so lucky as to have someone (who happens to work for me) come and pull my elk out with me on it with a jeep.? That's funny wapiti... Sounds like you get along well with your boss. He better feed you some tenderloins and backstraps when you show up at his house! As few elk as have been taken this year - even a rifle kill is a true trophy (and it would be anyway; just this year has been harder than normal)

Glad you guys like the pics and got a kick outta our recovery system, Jack actually has a pretty serious Jeep of his own but his wife was the one to go get help and we decided we really needed a truck too ;D (no kiddin huh?) Smj - I hear ya about the cape ,and had my wyoming saw on hand, but he had no plans as far as I know of doing a shoulder mount, most folks round here are content to mount the antlers on a plaque( which is why he was ridin it...keep them antlers from getting tore up) instead of dishing out the coin on a mount( not sure why??) Unless it's a truly giant bull that is.Not to mention a shoulder mounted elk takes up ALOT of space(he kills one every year or two thats alotta wall space),perhaps thats one reason? ???Mostly I think he cares more about the meat in the freezer than anything.Oh yeah and doing one this way is TONS easier than quartering it up ;D Anyhow I'll pass along everyones kind words to him.And I won't let him forget about this when I kill one far far from the road . Is that a new redneck sport? Bull riding?
Looks like a very nice elk.
