I don't know, but if I score Sat, or Sun, I'll be bear hunting right down the road from you in Prattsville...indeed, there are bears.. Is the honey burn...or even the Thermascent legal?

Yes.....scent posts are legal. You just cant have edible bait. I was thinking of throwing some scent into some cans (soup cans) and throwing them on the ground nearby. Problem with a scent is that if there isn't anything there , they will move on. With scented cans , that will take him awhile to investigate

Got this from wikipedia: Honey burns - these really work. Get a one gallon paint can (new, or extremely clean with no residue) and pour a bottle of honey in the can... use a Sterno heater or camp stove to get the honey boiling -- a nice grey smoke will begin to fill the air around and travel with the wind. For a nice added touch pour a bit of anise extract in the honey pot. Since you're dealing with an open flame it might behoove you to bring an old cookie sheet or something similar to put your fire production on... it will get tipped over, and it will start a fire. When you finish with your honey burn, rig up a rope to pull the can up into a tree (high and out of reach like your stinky sock) and let the smell of honey waft in the air when you go home. Thanks Spiker You would think that the Bomb would be made in honey ? I was going to order a few cans but everything they had was anything but. That honey burn method is different from the methods which I have read about in the past but sounds like a good way to go. I like the fact that I don't need to build a fire if I use Sterno
