Any fall hunters ?

This is always the worse case scenario for me and the reason I never put any real effort into bear hunting.

It comes during deer season here in the fall and we have no spring season at all

I have heard some talking about a fall bear hunt from others and I am finally going to commit myself .
(for awhile anyway)

Anyone else have to make these hard decisions ?

I have thought about it too Bt I do need a bear skin rug under my Lazyboy, but until I bag a Bull Elk I am gona waite on the Blackbears.

Been on one years back. Unfortunately it was a total disappointment as we saw nothing for the 3 days we were there. It's done on a preference point system here now and I haven't applied since the late 90's before the system. I'd have next to no chance for the next 2 yrs and probably 3-4 before I could get a chance. There's about a 20% chance of getting drawn here. Approx 60,000 applications for approx 12,000 permits.

Dad has some land.
He is interested in baiting it, but it takes a LOT of time and effort.
Almost better to pay the 900 bucks and get a good chance from someone who does it for a living.

What about going to the clear cuts in Aroostook when the blueberry are coming in?.

I always saw bear when walking those old logging roads.

Michi...you should have been applying or 'banking' a point if you couldn't make it some of the years. I know guys that draw a tag with 1 and 2 points. Depends on the hunt you want and the location. heck, it's only $4.00 for application. I have 6 points built up and am going to apply for the first hunt in the Bergland unit next fall. Should have no problem drawing.
