or heard of. I had two Turkeys dusting themselves on the corner of my Clover patch. Just like a partridge would do It was pretty cool because I haven't seen the Turkeys here for along time and suddenly there are two making a dust storm in the back Anyone ever seen this practice of dusting performed by Turkeys ?

There is a great picture in the new july issue of field and stream. It's of a hen that buried herself in a pile of ashes from some burned brush. The picture is of the exact moment the bird jumps up and starts to dust. It looks like a bomb going off. Of course I can't find the pic online anywhere. I have heard of it but have yet to see it happen.

I've seen it all my life. They dust to get mites off of themselves. Old log roads with sandbeds in them are a favorite place for them.

Very common BT. In fact. when I'm scouting I look for dusting areas. Can usually make them out from long circular type cuts in the ground from their wings. Great area to find them staging in!!

No kidding!....I haven't met anyone yet other than you who had heard of such a thing.... on a regular basis anyway.
