Normally, I would shoot a yote in a skinny instant as I have some up on the hill behind my house that I hope to get a creack at this season. But in this case, I have no idea what is behind this yote as it is on the crest of a little ridge. There may be something even worse that the barn that I could hit back there.

NO Shot there! I was always taught never to shoot if you don't know what's on the other side of the target. Could be a disaster waiting to happen!

All the kids in my Hunter Ed classes would pass this test. It's part of TAB
1. Treat every weapon(gun) as if it is loaded. I have to pay a quater every time I say weapon but I was in the Marine Corps long before I was a Hunter Ed Instructor. I pay for a lot of coffee.
2. Always point your weapon(gun) in a safe direction. Another 25 cents....
3. Be sure of your target and beyond. And this one definitely falls into that category.

Doesnt pertain in this scenario but 4. Keep your finger off the trigger until you have made a conscious decision to shoot.
Yes, must recite these everytime we have firearms qualifications
